Hello all, this week I want to discuss strategies that can be used in both rulesets below, especially in low mana in modern format although it still can be used in the high mana battle, but the chance to surprised the enemy is lower, because usually they will put high mana unit in the 1st position and bring support unit. I battle in the Diamond league :
Ruleset | Description |
---|---|
Target Practice ruleset, all ranged and magic attack monsters have the Snipe ability. Snipe ability, targets enemy monsters with ranged, magic, or no attack that are not in the first position. | |
Aimless ruleset, all units with magic and ranged attacks have Scattershot (magic and ranged attacks target a random enemy unit). |
Note : I play with my Scholar account with only a limited card (Chaos Legion, reward card, and rent several old cards like Doctor Blight, Arkemis The Bear, Dumacke Exile, etc.), I don't have summoner with dual tactics. So this strategy may only suit players that rent/have cheap card. I play in Modern format Diamond/Champ League.
The Strategy and Battle
- Bring unit who can heal other unit behind (Triage) example :
Except Lily Shieldpaw which is summoner all is units/monster. - Bring the best attacker in the front to surprise the enemy. usually in the battle we must think to use tanker who can handle magic damage, or bring unit with the Taunt ability (every enemy unit will try attacking this unit if they can), but in the ruleset Aimless the range and magic unit will attacking random unit, they can't focus fire. it's same in the ruleset Target Practice as long we have unit who can't attack/range/magic unit behind our melee attacker. In short, in both of these rulesets, our attacker in the first position will be safer from attacks so we can use the best attacker without worrying too much about whether the unit is weak against ranged/magic attacks.
We have several battle example for this strategy :
Battle 1 :
This is low mana battle which can only use Neutral element (Shades of Gray ruleset) and have Briar Patch (everytime melee attacked enemy unit and hit, the melee unit will receive 2 damage) ruleset we guess the enemy will bring many range/magic unit to defeat our unit behind, and ignore/only bring unit who has little/no attack to attack our 1st position unit. So we bring our unit Doctor Blight who usually put in the last position to the first position, this is not an easy battle because the enemy have more luck than me. They hit our Chaos Agent everytime, and kill it fast, while our Spirit hoarder have hard time hitting the enemy Chaos Agent.Battle 2 :
Djinn Chwala our tanker and attacker survive until the end of the battle. In battle without ruleset Aimless it's very risky to put this unit in front, because this unit is slow and easy to hit. It only have high health and armor without any ability to defend against attack.Battle 3 :
I bring Silent Sha-Vi to the first position, this unit is like Doctor Blight usually put behind. The enemy tanker not ready to fight this fast and high damaging unit, our unit easily kill it, and one by one kill the enemy behind.
Conclusion
- In the low mana battle (Battle 1 & 3) this strategy is more effective because in low mana battles, mistakes in placing tankers can result in quick defeat, because the health of the unit is not too large.
- In battle no. 2 which is a high mana battle, there are many strong units that can function as tankers or attackers, such as Grimbaldun Smith, Mantaroth, Coeurl Lurker, etc. which when supported by other units (Heal, Repair, buff and debuff) become difficult to kill. Even though the tanker brought by the enemy is not that strong, we need more time to kill him (we are lucky because the Chaos Dragon attack hit the Carnage Titan right),
Because of the limited mana in low mana battles we have to choose between bringing a strong attacker or bringing a support unit, so usually the enemy tanker in front is weaker. while in middle to high mana battles we can bring a strong tanker and support unit that can help our tanker in front, Even though we put a strong attacker in front, sometimes it is still difficult to kill the enemy tanker quickly.
Just remember that in ruleset Target Practice and Aimless our tanker and attacker in the 1st position is safer so if you want to attack from the front bring the best attacker you have without worrying to much about attacking from the enemy range and magic unit.
Thank you, my friend, for taking the time to review my battle strategy post. I appreciate your efforts and would be grateful if you could provide me with feedback on any mistakes you find by leaving a comment.
