πŸŽ„ Stackers Twelve Days of Christmas- Day 1 πŸŽ„

in voilk β€’Β  4 days ago

The Silver Gold Stackers community has started a challenge open to everyone to share twelve items you would like to receive as a Christmas gift. I decided today would be a great day to jump in and join in the fun. This will make for my First Day of Christmas on my wish list, and it's an item I only recently found. This is a note that has been micro deposited with five hundred milligrams of pure gold! They are produced by Valarum Corporation in Portland, Oregon.

This series that they have produced celebrates some of the large animals of North America. In particular the bison, the brown bear, and the cougar. They also produce other series that feature animals and location world wide. The one most of us in the stacker community know and love is the Gold Back's.

Unlike typical currency we use on a daily basis these gold Aurum's can be used to invest in physical gold. They also have the advantage of being much easier to store than typical gold coins and bars. The fact that they contain small amounts of gold also makes them much more affordable. As of the moment the gold content in this note is worth $42, but the price of the item itself is $72. That makes a fairly large premium on each one of these, but they are also works of art in addition to just plain gold.

Isn't that a nice design? And a great way to invest in gold in small amounts. And since I am sharing an item with the brown bear I would be derelict if I didn't at least share something about these majestic creatures!

    Brown Bear

Brown bears live in the northern parts of North America, Asia, and Europe. Their habitat has been greatly reduced over the centuries as many local populations have been killed off by hunters. In North America this bear is mainly found in the extreme northern United States and Canada and into Alaska. Humans have long revered bears and have even domesticated them throughout recorded history. Anciently they were commonly kept in zoos as well as today.

In the US we mainly have Grizzly bears, although in most places they have been killed off by hunters. As a matter of fact in California, where I live, the state flag has a grizzly bear on it. Which is a little ironic because the last of them were killed off more than 100 years ago in the state. There has always been talk of reintroducing them but I doubt that will likely ever happen.

Although these creatures look fluffy and cute they are formidable predators that should be avoided in the wild. The most dangerous would be the situation pictured above, a mother bear is extremely aggressive trying to protect her cubs. That's why any of us who like to enjoy time up in the mountains where there are bears never wander out on the trails without bear spray handy. It's very concentrated pepper spray that will stop a bear in it's tracks without needing to shoot them which was always necessary in the past. I've never come across any in the wild myself and for that I am grateful!

In Alaska and Canada the bears love the yearly salmon run. Salmon swim from the ocean to spawn in rivers and streams where they were born. The bears take advantage and are commonly seen actively fishing in the yearly event!

They are beautiful animals though, especially when viewed from a safe distance. I have included the Wikipedia link about them in my references if you are interested in reading up more about them.

That will wrap up my First Day of Christmas wish list. I hope you enjoyed learning about some alternative ways to invest in gold. I love wildlife pictures so it was a lot of fun picking out a couple for you to enjoy. Please feel free to leave any comments or questions below, and as always thank you so much for all of your support. I really do appreciate it! Have a great week everyone!
