I am a huge silver bug, and just got some amazing coins in the mail. There are a lot of beautiful bargain-bin silver coins in the world coin and junk silver categories that shine through. Let me take you through three of my favorites.
The first coin, which is pictured above is the Panamanian 1/10 Balboa. This coin retails between $4-6 and the coin pictured is a 1961 version containing 90% silver. Balboa coins shine, and this lusterous specimen shines bright and was hard to photograph after all these years. This coin ran in silver from 1930-1962 and the older coins are lusterous and beautiful with age.
This next coin is a Barber Dime, which most people are familiar with. This is a 1912 specimen that was minted the year the Titanic made it's fateful voyage. Barber dimes were minted between 1892 and 1916 and are 90% silver. I have a growing collection of "junk silver" coins that I enjoy. The Barber Dime looks classy and many contemporary coins have this build.
Above is King George 10 cent Canadian coin. This coin is 80% silver, and I regularly find these on sale. This coin was produced during WWII and it just looks good. The finish on many of these coins has faded, but I managed to bag one that's in pretty good shape.
Hope you enjoyed my walk down some awesome coins. What are your favorite gems?
