El pasado domingo asistí a un evento aquí en Santa Cruz de Tenerife, llamado TecnoPlay, en el cual diferentes iniciativas tecnológicas de videojuegos se reunieron para compartir sus proyectos al público. Sobre ello les compartiré en otra publicación. En est publicación, les comparto lo que fue mi primera experiencia con estos juegos de mesa, más específicamente, uno de rol, y otro de cartas el cual se juega de forma cooperativa.
En este evento, también había un espacio para loa jóvenes amantes del mundo del anime y la cultura asiática pop. Y esta post viene de otra sección del evento en el cual habían juegos de mesa que se jugaban entre miembros orgnizadores y el público visitante. Es allí en donde yo entré y pude jugar este par de juegos, de los cuales, por cierto, me gustó más el de cartas que el de rol.
El juego de rol es, si no me equivoco, el mismo juego de Calabozos y Dragones,el juego que aparece en la serie Stranger Things. Si no lo es, pues sería uno muy parecido. Este juego se basa en el rol, es decir, encarnar un personaje de ficción con habilidades mágicas o de batalla, junto a otros jugadores, mientras recorren un mapa de un mundo ficticio. Hay un narrador o animador del juego, el cual va de alguna manera guiando la historia e introduciendo situaciones. Creo que hay que tener mucha creatividad y carisma para ejercer esta función, de lo contrario el juego sería aburrido.
Mi personaje fue una especie de sabio mistico con poderes sobrenaturales y con una loba huargo llamada Bruma. Me gustó mucho este personaje porque me identifiqué más con él que con otros que se basan más en batalla física. Si bien me gustó la dinámica de este juego, creo que disfruté más del otro, uno de cartas llamado La Isla Prohibida.
La Isla Prohibida es un juego cooperativo, en el que todos trabajan en equipo para salir de una isla que se está inundando, a la vez que recogen los tesoros que allí se esconden. La isla se compone de diversas cartas organizadas de forma circular, simulando una isla, y cada jugador se identifica con una figura de un color y con cierta habilidad.
A medida que pasan los turnos de cada jugador, y dependiendo de las cartas que este obtenga, cada carta de la isla se inunda parcial o definitivamente, haciendo que el camino de regreso al escape de la isla se vea cada vez más limitado. El objetivo es que todos escapen, con todos los tesoros. Es un poco complicado de entender al inicio, pero a medida que lo captas y conoces la dinámica del juego es muy divertido.
Lo más emocionante no es solo que el escenario en sí se va inundando, sino que es un juego muy estratégico también, ya que entre todos se debe decidir qué camino tomar y qué conservar o qué no. Y estas decisiones repercuten al final de la partida. Sin duda que volvería a jugar este juego, e incluso comprarlo cuando tenga la posibilidad. Y tú ¿Lo habías jugado?

Last Sunday I attended an event here in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, called TecnoPlay, in which different video game technology initiatives gathered to share their projects with the public. I will share about it in another post. In this post, I will share with you what was my first experience with these board games, more specifically, a role-playing game, and a card game which is played cooperatively.
In this event, there was also a space for young lovers of the world of anime and Asian pop culture. This post comes from another section of the event in which there were board games that were played between members of the organizers and the visiting public. That's where I went in and was able to play this pair of games, of which, by the way, I liked the card game more than the role-playing game.
The role-playing game is, if I'm not mistaken, the same game as Dungeons and Dragons, the game featured in the Stranger Things series. If it is not, then it would be a very similar one. This game is based on role-playing, that is, embodying a fictional character with magical or battle abilities, along with other players, as they roam a map of a fictional world. There is a narrator or animator of the game, who somehow guides the story and introduces situations. I think you have to have a lot of creativity and charisma to play this role, otherwise the game would be boring.
My character was a kind of mystic sage with supernatural powers and a direwolf named Bruma. I really liked this character because I identified more with him than with others who are more based on physical battle. While I liked the dynamics of this game, I think I enjoyed the other one more, a card game called The Forbidden Island.
The Forbidden Island is a cooperative game, in which everyone works as a team to get off an island that is flooding while collecting the treasures hidden there. The island is made up of various cards organized in a circular shape, simulating an island, and each player is identified with a figure of a color and a certain skill.
As each player's turns pass, and depending on the cards he/she obtains, each card of the island is partially or definitely flooded, making the way back to the island's escape more and more limited. The goal is for everyone to escape, with all the treasures. It's a bit complicated to understand at first, but as you pick it up and get to know the dynamics of the game it's a lot of fun.
The most exciting thing is not only that the scenario itself is flooding, but it is a very strategic game as well since everyone must decide which path to take and what to keep or not. And these decisions have repercussions at the end of the game. I would play this game again, and even buy it when I have the chance. And you, have you played it?
