Children are gifts from the creator himself. The advantages attached to bearing children can not be overemphasized. In some parts of the world, it is regarded as a curse not to bear children.

Through birth, the world gets populated and people occupy the uninhabited regions of the world, it is through the same birth that we have people around to interact with.

Birth is a blessing, every child born comes with a unique dimension to present to the world. However, too much of everything is bad.

Some people give birth as if they are trying to raise a nation. Gone are the days when having many children accounted for wealth because those children could be converted to the workforce at the farm to bring more returns.

But nowadays, things have changed, Farming is no longer the thing everyone is doing, and human force is no longer very important because there are now machines.

But unfortunately, people are still giving birth to many children. For that reason, opportunities are becoming scarce as there are many people chasing fewer opportunities.

Today, the available resources in many countries cannot serve their citizens because of their number. In some countries securing a nice job is something very difficult to come at.

The only available option is to be self-employed which is characterized by so much competition because almost everything is now an entrepreneur.

I believe for reasons like these, some governments decided to control the rate of birth by deciding the number of children a couple should give birth to and they are progressing.

To be frank, I am in support of that law, look how people are struggling all over the world. There are graduates and competent individuals who are still struggling with life because there are no job vacancies.

Imagine spending years studying in school to become whatever you wanted to, only to come to the labor field and discover that your position has been occupied.

The only option you now have is to start studying to become an entrepreneur else life will eat you up like a piece of cake.

It is so unfortunate that in my beloved country Nigeria, laws like that don't apply and I don't think it will ever apply, not anytime soon.

In Nigeria, most people don't take the issue of birth control seriously, especially the poor. One man will marry four wives and have twenty children without having any means to cater to their needs.

Those children will grow up struggling and expecting fate to do anything to them. It's so unfortunate.

It's beautiful to have children, in fact is a blessing but it can also be a curse when you bring them into the world and refuse to take responsibility.

It hurts me that some people don't know that part of the reason why our country isn't progressing is overpopulation. Corruption is not the only thing keeping Nigeria stagnant.

In fact, I am beginning to think overpopulation is the reason why the country is corrupt. Why won't people be greedy when it looks as if, if they don't grab the opportunity now, it will be taken from them and who knows what will befall them in the future? LOL

There are many people looking for the same opportunities, if you are in Nigeria, go out of your house during the weekend and see how many POS (Point Of Sale) shops you have on the street facing each other.

Go on social media and see how many people are advertising clothes, it's just too much that it makes opportunities scarce.

The competition is high, and everyone is struggling to survive, this is part of the reason why the number of people living from hand to mouth is greater than those living well.

As parents, please give birth to what you can afford to train and not just train but what won't be a burden to the nation at large.

Don't be the reason why social vices increase, I am so sure that if there are no jobs some people will do evil to succeed. Don't contribute to the number.

Will regulating childbirth bring about change?

Well, if the government of my country will enact a law on childbearing I would be very happy but I don't think it's going to bring about an immediate change.

It might take decades for the change to be effective because the deed has been done. Some parents already have ten children, probably the future generations will enjoy that law and not us. But I think it won't be bad anyway, so if such a law is brought into our country it will do us good.
