Vietnamese cuisine is quite popular here in Singapore. There’s a high demand for it and there are not many places that offer this cuisine hence the price is more on the expensive side. And that’s the reason why I rarely eat this type of cuisine.
I thought every Vietnamese food stall or restaurant was expensive until I discovered a stall at the Old Airport Road Food Centre. The prices on their menu are about the same as the other stalls so I gave this one a try. The name of the stall is Pho Me. They specialize in Vietnamese Pho and Spring rolls.
While I was ordering, they offered me put the Pho & Spring Roll together as a set that is priced at $10 which I regretfully turned down because it was dinner and I didn't want to eat too much.
Maybe, I should also try the Spring Roll on my next visit because it looks delicious and unique. Vietnamese rolls have a distinct quality that other cuisines can't match.
They have a variety of Pho dishes with different toppings but the one that I chose is the version with the beef. The chicken also looks nice but I already had chicken during lunch time so I chose a different protein for this dinner.
The beef is lean and flavorsome. It goes well with the rice noodles. It's a good contrast because the noodles has very little flavor and it's very soft.
Ultimately, it's the sauce that made a difference to this dish. It was tasty & soothing also. I would definitely order this dish whenever I don't feel it. A good reason to crave this dish is the nice soup.
