Hello everyone! @zakludick here from Cape Town, South Africa. Welcome to my 2nd Hive (channel) account!
The purpose of this account is to chronicle the building and enlargement of my massive Grand Imperial Army in Warhammer 40k.
I have been involved in the hobby of Warhammer 40,000 since 3rd edition and we are now in 10th edition and possibly a year or so away from 11th edition. Who knows on that score.
I started collecting the Space Wolves Chapter of Space Marines but this collection expanded to include Dark Angels, Ultramarines, Black Templars, Astra Militarum, Grey Knights and some Adepta Sororitas.
A LOT of it is still not painted and a journal like this will help me move in a logical and progressive way through the collection and everything to a level of readiness that is expected of Warhammer 40,000 collections instead of collecting dust in the garage and growing the ever expanding pile of shame.
Another reason for this account obviously (it's in the name) is that THIS is my hobby fund. I needed to create an account to serve as the place to store my Hobby Fund separately from the rest of my finances on Hive.
My hobby posts have always meant to be 50/50 for myself and the fund. On @zakludick I will continue to post about Reviews, Battle Reports, Posting and Painting posts. Right now HBD is going into this fund to pay off the $575 lots that I need to pay off but after that I have 1075HP-ish that is part of the @zakludick account that belongs to the Hobby Fund. While generating that HP, the HBD was for personal use.
The idea is to pay off the $575, buff up the HP to 1500HP and have that ready for Bull run and then put back the resultant value into this @zakl.hobbyfund as HBD and put it into savings.
With that savings I intent to only use the interest on the HBD.
Meanwhile for THIS account, posting updates on my collection, the intention is to take HP earned and leave it on this account as something that can vote on Warhammer and Tabletop content on Hive. Meanwhile the HBD from this account goes into the Hobby Fund to polish off that $575 and then generate that 1500HP and thereafter to keep feeding into the Hobby Fund.
I really don't know if it will be OK for me to upvote @zakludick with this account or upvote this account with @zakludick, I don't ever upvote my own content so for the time being... I am going to avoid that sort of "farming."
I have TWO huge goals:
1: To create the biggest Warhammer collection ever.
2: For this hobby and the hobby content channel to generate an passive income that I can retire/downscale on and treat like a business like Youtubers do with their Youtube channels.
So...
In Summary, the reason for this Channel:
- To be an account that keeps my hobby fun separate to my other Hive money.
- To chronicle my collection growth and keep me on track.
- To become part of a business one day to sustain me.
Warhammer is awesome!
Here are some pictures of friends, events and recent projects I have not even had time to post about!
Myself, Owen (@owen-turner) and Marnus (@xenowolfza) having some games!
Models or units will be added on a roster on this channel. If they are a unit of 15/10/5 models, that will be a post. Or if they are a single hero like the above Wolf Guard Pack Leader in Terminator Armor, then that model will be on its own.
Warhammer 40k was a hobby that paused a lot while the kids were younger. But now it is something that I can enjoy with my kids!
Here is an example of progress. For my Horde Wolf Army I built three new Wolf Guard Battle Leaders (Lieutenants). And this is what they looked like with base coast and squad markings done.
And here is one of the Wolf Guard completed and painted. Armed with his Master Crafted Boltgun and Powerfist, this guy has been growing his Saga on the Battlefield!
Of course those Wolf Guard are part of my Horde SW army. These make up part of my Great Company and the 90 Blood Claws that I built for this army! And I still have PLENTY of work to do on them. This blog will help me to journal and keep track of it all!
I have a LOT of bits to work through. Some of it is separated into groups and a lot of it can still be separated. Sometimes whole models can be built from this and other times you can find a lot of cool stuff in here to mod models with.
And here is a taste of what I mean that I have a LOT of models even before I have started establish that passive income for the fund. Though some of what I have makes up the $575 I need to pay off!
Warhammer 40k in South Africa is not just something enjoyed alone or in a small groups, there are also large events like the the Warhammer Nationals 2024 in Paarl, Cape Town.
And there are Imperial Armies that I have not yet had the privilege of collecting, like the Imperial Knights! I'd love to have a Lance of Nobles!
And there is many battle and Scenarios to cover.
So... plenty of work for me to do and I need to focus on sorting out that $575 first...
For which I am willing to work hard!
Thank you for reading this post!
Cheers!
Zak Ludick
