When we had BRACKET

    Greetings!

In today's #ttt, I decided to take a nostalgic trip back to the years around 2009 to 2012 to make a pick, and I was pleasantly surprised to remember one of the duos that dominated the airwaves during that time—BRACKET. I can confidently say that every music lover across Africa must have heard the name BRACKET, especially with their hottest track, Yori Yori. It makes me wonder, why can't good artists continue to stay relevant with their songs? Why does there always seem to be a fade-out? It sucks!😎

BRACKET didn't just burst onto the music scene with a single track; they came with albums, and before they faded out, their songs were entertaining and widely loved. In this #ttt, I'm going to pick my top three songs from BRACKET. It's hard to choose, but I had to.

    Yori Yori [Remix] featuring 2face:

One might ask, why not pick the original instead of the remix? Well, the remix does it for me. It came out more mature, with ear-tickling lyrics, and the beat is very calm too. I just love this track so much! It's one of those songs where I can sing the lyrics without missing a word, especially the version by 2face, which is the killer part of the song. Many people don't know about this remix because even when it came out, the original version was still buzzing.

    Celebrate featuring Timaya:

This song became one of my favorites after my first visit to Lagos. The man I stayed with for four days had a "maddddd" bond with this song, playing it repeatedly on his powerful sound system in the room. Though it wasn't as loud as a nightclub, we felt like we were at a party because of how cool the sound system was. Ever since then, I’ve been in love with this song and added it to my playlist.
The song is typically a party anthem that will get anyone dancing once the beat drops. They did justice to the lyrics, adding humor, and the message was clear: appreciating God for the good in life and encouraging everyone to celebrate every little moment instead of complaining.

The way the three of them fused their lyrics in the chorus is captivating, though Timaya’s voice dominates.

    No Time featuring Psquare:

BRACKET is a duo, while Psquare is a duo as well, and they’re twins in real life. That’s super cool!

This song was a massive hit when it came out, especially with its unique beat and Psquare's involvement. At that time, Psquare was at their peak, so any song they featured in automatically became a hit, and that was the case here.
The lyrics are sweet and very relatable to the experiences of life, particularly where they talk about how the bad live longer on earth while the good leave too soon. It's a thoughtful reflection wrapped in a groovy tune.
