Incredible Underwater Video of Hawaiian Spinner Dolphins

I spend a lot of time out on the water here in Hawaii. Every once in a while I will get lucky and come across a pod of dolphins. We have several different species, but one of my favorites has to be the Hawaiian spinner dolphins. They love to bowride, where they come right up to the front of the boat and surf in the underwater wave we create.

This morning I was able to do something I've never done before. The water was flat calm and crystal clear. I was in the front of our small zodiac, leading guests on a skiff tour of the coast of the Big Island. I spotted these dolphins and they started to bow ride our zodiac.

I told the captain to keep her steady, I went up to the bow and laid down, and was able to stick my GoPro camera into the water to film the bowriding dolphins. Even though we were still going quite fast I managed to get clear video that makes it look like I was one of the pod.

Enjoy, and as always, keep traveling!
