It's New Year's Eve, but the only fizzy drink I'll be knocking back is Vitamin-C. Somehow the wife and both managed to catch post-Christmas colds. Given that we are both over 50 we don't feel that we are missing out on much. Though my wife usually does an impressive antipasto platter. She prepared a scaled down one for a friend who hosted a watch patch party for election night. I'll ask for one for my birthday (in a week).

Today makes one month without smoking for me. A few months ago, I felt that smoking was observably beginning to impact my health and made up my mind to do something about it. I've been using nicotine pouches which have completely cut the urge to smoke for me. Today I went and purchased the weakest strength they have as I've been tapering down that also. Nicotine in isolation probably isn't remarkably harmful for a healthy person but I don't like being dependent on a chemical, even if it's benign.

Before I got sick the minor morning cough I was seeing, had completely gone away. My broad goals are to increase our own resiliency over the next year - and giving up smoking helps advance that goal. I may have pre-empted New Year's resolutions by already stopping smoking - the next step is to revisit other goals, assess them, and make plans to see them realized.

Short post today. I hope all of you have a beautiful New Year, with each day an opportunity to be better.
