My own share of Bad customer service.

    Greetings.

I am always excited to participate in the hive ghana's weekly prompt because of its Amazing, exciting and educative topics. Reading through the topics I decided to write on the Topic "customer service".

Everyone of us has visited a company or shop where we end up getting pissed due to their terrible customer service. At some point someone like me will just be thinking if they were not educated on the right approach to customers.

I have been a victim several times of terrible customer service especially Banks. The customer services at the banks are very poor and annoying. This actually stopped me from visiting the Banking halls most times. I prefer to use all these online mobile banks like opay, moniepoint and palmpay just to avoid going to the banking halls. Imagine you go to the bank with money to make a transaction with them and instead of receiving a good reception you get a terrible service. I had been to the bank just to change my phone number but the services I had that day have made me not go to a bank since then so anytime someone says let's go to the bank i find it hard to go just because of their treatment.

Another place where you get terrible customer service is a hospital, especially a Government owned hospital. The Nurses there are so rude and terrible. I can recall once when I was in school and I was ill so I had to visit a General hospital close to my school and I met this woman, a nurse in the office. I did not know her shift had expired and was preparing to go home. So on meeting her I got the worst treatment I could ever imagine. I immediately had to caution her by asking her if she was not taught the ethics of attending to a patient. Because as a medical student, we were taught ethics of the profession together with code of conducts as a medical professional. This terrible customer service happens a lot there. You will see how a nurse on duty will ignore a patient being brought into the hospital on Emergency claiming to be busy or claiming to be eating as you will even wonder what was the passion that made the person accept to go to a nursing school hence even working as a nurse. And with this most people have taken to self medical care instead of visiting hospitals for treatment just to avoid being treated terribly even with their money.

These are the few ways I suggest will curb this terrible customer service.

First, The managers or people incharge of these places like the Banks and the hospitals should conduct thorough evaluations to pinpoint where customer service is falling short. This can involve analyzing customer feedback, conducting surveys, and observing interactions between staff and customers.

Second, I will suggest Investing in comprehensive training programs for customer service representatives. Ensure the staff understand the company's values, products/services, and the importance of active listening, and problem-solving skills.

Then lastly, Management should establish clear procedures for handling complaints and ensure they are resolved promptly and satisfactorily.

I believe these few suggestions will help curb the issue of bad customer service.
