One thing I didn’t know about Baldur’s Gate is that apparently this game has three acts. These acts contain stories and main missions that the player has to do. I only learned it from their Wiki and just realized it. So, since I recently unlocked Shadow-Cursed Lands, apparently, I am closer to Act Two. Another fun fact is that I made a customized character and finished the game in less than a week.
I decided to delete all of my shadow heart save because I don’t like her character sheet at all. Not to mention, I would rather play as a fighter than cleric. Playing with custom made characters, I made sure my character has more strength but also has intelligence too. This is how it looks, the character that I am currently playing.
By the way, during the finding a cure mission, here’s what I did and what I unlocked.
Unlocking Karlach
In this game, I have unlocked two more companions. One being Karlach. It’s not that hard to find her because she is located just around the bridge and you have to go down to the stream where Karlach is wounded. With Wyll around, it made the story more interesting and unlocking her will also help with battle because she started with higher HP.
Withers... the undead
So, Withers is quite an interesting companion. In my multiplayer session, my partner and I traveled to some type of dungeon and fought the undead. But in my solo game, I found out he’s sort of existing in the camp and we can ask him to change our class to be something else. Obviously, it isn’t free but at least, not too expensive either. That being said, you don’t really have to do it the hard way by going to the dungeon, killing the undead and as well as solving a dungeon puzzle.
Halsin, The Druid & Killing Goblins
Finding a cure mission leads us to Halsin, who was captured by goblins. It took me a while to finally kill him but I did. I eventually rescued him and killed all the goblin leaders. It took a while because I was doing some other quest to level up and increase my HP. It is way better to level up first then aim for the goblin. It is quicker and more effective. Unless you like dying multiple times and failing the attempt.
Annoying gnolls and how to fight them
In the game, there are some spots with gnolls. In order to win the fight, you have to split the party into two. Make sure that it is a good combo because if you put them all up together, the chance of survival is pretty thin.
That was what happened when I didn’t understand how it works. Now that I do, I really advise you to split into two but make sure they are a little close but also not too far away.
How to avoid fighting the Githyanki
There will be a group of Githyanki almost at the end of the bridge & don’t go there before killing the goblins and resolving the problem at the grove. Also to approach them use Lae'zel in the party and make sure that your character is good at deception. Otherwise, you have to fight the party and it isn’t going to be an easy win especially with less than level 4.
Fighting tips
In some cases, you have to split the party just so you have more chances to win. As a noob player, I didn’t know this but as time went by, I found out about it and now have been doing that especially with more challenging places and spots that I am a little unfamiliar with. I am sure there are many more to discover but for now, that’s my tip as a noob to play this game.
