It's not a thing of Dads, it's just intrinsic in every guy to hate the boyfriends of their sisters/daughters for the first time.

What a funny prompt we have here, hehehe.
It's very funny because I'm not yet a dad but I could relate fully to what is going on because it's not a thing of been a dad, it's just in every guy.

Just the same way guys hate guys that are coming around their sisters; Even the worst of guys are protective about their sisters... It's just an intrinsic act.

I could vividly remember a discussion I had with a good friend of mine, Ambrose, where I jokingly asked for her sister's contact....

Me: give me your sisters number, she's beautiful oh
Ambrose: what for? What do you want to do with it?
I can give you Mary's own but forget about my sister's own
Me: Is Mary not someone's sister?
    Ambrose: That one concerns you

Here ,you could see the repulsiveness in just giving me her sister's contact and that's the way it is till we become dads tomorrow...
Imagine when it's this difficult for just a contact talk more of seeing you with his daughter 🤣.

The why's about this hateful act

Honestly, people are different and I believe there are various reasons why each and every dad is trying to be protective about their daughter...

    Test Genuinety Of The Man

For the first time, dads will always think that the guy hovering around their daughter is just trying to take advantage of them.
They are repulsive to them immediately and buys time to ask about the boyfriend,
what he does for a living? who his parents? are and all the series of questions and answers.

This is because no one wants his daughter to end up in a home where she won't be comfortable worst more becoming a burden to him all through his life.

    Type Of Life He Lived

Also, some dads might have lived a very "sexually exploring life" to say and to them, all guys are the same, they get scared whenever a guy comes around their daughters because they believe the guy is just a playboy just like they did in their youthful age and will try to make you leave their daughter with the hateful display they show you especially for the first time.

    Bringing Shame To The Family

An Igbo adage will say, "Onye e jidere n'ukwu Ose bu onye bu onye ohi" which literally means that, "whomever was caught at the pepper garden regardless of whatever he says was the thief that stole the peppers."

In that same way, when ladies make mistake with their boyfriends, they end up carrying the display of shame (unwanted pregnancy) while the said boyfriend walks around like nothing happened worst still when the boyfriend isn't interested in marrying their daughter.
This makes dad act the way they do.

    Believes The Daughter is Naive

Finally, often times, mums will just be concerned with the daughters getting into the husband's house and wouldn't sleep on the matter but dads at all times believes the daughter is still naive and has no good knowledge about what she's about to enter and that's why they keep asking the questions,
Are you sure this is the man you want to settle down with? Do you love him? And so on and so forth
That's if the boyfriend is even interested in marriage.

It's often said that dads love their daughters more and mums love their sons more, so don't misinterpret their genuine intention, it's just an act of love.
