Our monsoon season is finally bringing is some much needed (and appreciated) rains today but Lulu and I were able to walk and hike in between showers.
It was a nice cool and damp start to the day after some wonderful showers overnight. The air had that sweet post-rain smell that I love and was so used to having back in New England. It was so nice to not be walking along the dusty roads and paths.
With the forecast calling for afternoon thunderstorms I decided to take Lulu over to Lynx Lake for a hike after hiking alone yesterday. The overnight rains had washed through the creek, making the water muddy but freshening up the landscape.
We didn't have a lot of hiking company on thr trails as most folks were enjoying thr beach or boating.
The pace was a lot slower for me but it was nice for a hike with Lulu. My legs felt good after my harder hike yesterday and my health metrics continue to improve (back to a healthy diet again).
We finished up with 3 miles as the rumble of thunder sounded through the hills followed by off and on afternoon rain.
