Hello #Hive visual friends!.... In both my mother's and my wife's garden are plants commonly called "Carrion Flower" or simply "Carrion".... These are succulent plants with cactus-like shapes without thorns whose main characteristic are the huge flowers in the form of five-pointed stars, which usually appear on the plants a few weeks after the first downpours. These flowers give off a fetid smell similar to rotting flesh and therefore attract insects (mainly flies) to pollinate them.
¡Hola amigos visuales de #Hive!... Tanto en el jardín de mi madre como en el de mi esposa hay plantas llamadas comúnmente "Flor de Carroña" o simplemente "Carroña"... Se trata de plantas suculentas con formas similares a cactus sin espinas cuya principal característica son las enormes flores en forma de estrellas de cinco puntas, las cuales suelen aparecer en las plantas pocas semanas después de los primeros aguaceros. Estas flores despiden un olor fétido similar a el de la carne en descomposición y gracias a eso atraen insectos (principalmente moscas) que las polinizan.

The flowers are large, some at home exceed 25 centimetres in diameter, but I have seen them grow much larger on very old plants in botanical gardens. Taking macro photographs of these flowers is fascinating, as they are full of intricate details, colours and shapes... On the other hand, you have to be brave and put up with the foul smell they give off... But that becomes secondary if our intention is to make some interesting macro and close-up photos... You also have to watch out for the flies that often perch on their huge petals! :)
Las flores son grandes, algunas en casa logran exceder los 25 centímetros de diámetro, pero las he visto crecer mucho más en plantas muy viejas en jardines botánicos. Hacer macro fotografías a estas flores es algo fascinante,pues están repletas de detalles complejos, colores y formas... Por otra parte ¡Hay que armarse de valor y soportar el el fétido olor que despiden!... Pero eso pasa a ser secundario si nuestra intención es hacer algunas macro y close-up fotos interesantes... ¡También hay que tener cuidado con las moscas que suelen estar posadas en sus enormes pétalos! :)

I converted these same photos to a type of scheme which I like to call "Vintage Black and White" which consists of starting from the camera RAW file and re-processing the photo by desaturating it and adjusting levels until I achieve the desired pure black and white, then using the same Adobe Camera RAW I add a tone adjustment with between 1% and 5% yellow depending on the luminosity of each photo. After that I make some adjustments of light, levels, shadows and whites almost always on the exported JPG and using Photoshop or PhotoScape.
Viré estas mismas fotos a un tipo de esquema el cual me gusta llamar "Blanco y Negreo Vintage" el cual consiste en partir desde el archivo RAW de la cámara y volver a procesar la foto desaturandola y ajustando niveles hasta lograr lo deseado en blanco y negro puro, después usando el mismo Adobe Camera RAW agrego un ajuste de tono con entre 1% y 5% de amarillo dependiendo de la luminosidad de cada foto. Después de eso hago algunos ajustes de luz, niveles, sombras y blancos casi siempre sobre el JPG exportado y usando Photoshop o PhotoScape.
For this photographic work I used my small Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8d FX lens together with a Raynox DCR-150 close-up lens. I'm frequently using this combination because of its very good light absorption capability, high detail recording and -obviously- weighing 470 Grs less than my 100mm macro lens!... Para este trabajo fotográfico usé mi pequeño lente Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8d FX sumado a una lentilla de acercamiento ** aynox DCR-150**. Estoy usando con frecuencia esta combinación debido a su bastante buena capacidad de absorción de luz, alto registro de detalles y -obviamente- ¡Pesar 470 GRS menos que mi lente macro 100mm!... ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL NOTE: Photographs captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments regarding light, sharpening, contrast and depth... They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape 3.6.3. NOTA TÉCNICA ADICIONAL: Fotografías capturadas con mi cámara DSLR Nikon D7000 en formato RAW, procesadas posteriormente en Adobe Camera RAW para ajustes relativos a luz, afilado, contraste y profundidad... Luego fueron exportadas a formato JGP sobre el cual se llevaron a cabo modificaciones menores como enderezado y agregado de marcas de agua usando PhotoScape 3.6.3.
