Growing up in a large family means having many siblings, which can be a blessing in disguise. Not only does it provide companionship and playmates, but it can also foster a sense of responsibility and teamwork among the family members. A large family can be a great learning ground for children, where they can see different role models, personalities, and lifestyles, all under one roof.
Growing up in a large family made me more resourceful for myself, I learned to work without complaint, and it taught me to be strong and responsible, at first, I thought the house chores were too much for me or Maybe I was suffering in my father's house not knowing that I am been prepared for the future. This helped in shaping my life to be who I am today.
My parents gave birth to five children and we all live under the same roof with other family members like my cousins, and the like, our house is always like Christmas day, we are always happy and merry, no dulling moment in our house and we all bond as if we are come out from the same womb.
One of the good things I learned from my parents is unity, my father always allows every family member to visit and makes us relate with them well, I am used to all my uncles and Aunts, they are always around us and we live like one big family.
Everything that has advantages also has disadvantages, one of my biggest disadvantages about a big family is house chores, among all my family members and my cousins who were living in our house I am the last born, I am always occupied with work, they will always be sent on errands every minute, the house chores can kill, I am always washing plates as If my mother opens a restaurant, this is one of the disadvantages why I do not like big family if you are a last born I am sure you will be able to relate.
I am benefiting from having a big family because when I need help I always have people to run to, I always have people around me who care so much, as much as I love a big family I think I would prefer to practice small family when I am ready to start a family.
On the other hand, there are many advantages to having a small family in the present situation of the world generally, people of this generation do not practice large or extended families anymore, people now prefer to cut their clothes according to their sizes, apart from the economic crisis, I think things should be moderate now, I love my space and privacy, the love and bond we share as one family are no longer there like it used to be, everyone is now busy with work and the likes so no time to be planning large family now.
The rate at which things are expensive in the market will make you couple in this era, when I was young my father would cater for children, I had five cousins staying in our house then plus my mother and father made it twelve in total, we never lack anything then, we all attended private schools and my father is responsible for paying the school fees, life was so good and easy that year, foodstuff was extremely cheap and eating was never a problem then, you can eat as many times as you want then but now no one will tell you to cut down expenses.
