Farewell, Shin-Lo!

This is one of the moments I should be partying, but already got a bit of nostalgia.

For the ones you don't know the name, this was the unique card that was launched in @splinterlands first kickstarter.

It could only be obtained in the kickstarter, making her one of the rarest cards in game.

I still remember when kickstarter's cards were launched, and Shin-los entered the market: absolute madness! For a few hours, there were cards sold over 300$! And I remember I was planning on selling the card in order to pay for the entire investment on the kickstarter (and at 300$ it would triple it), but greed got in the way so I placed the card for seale at a ridiculous high price.

Long story short: the prices dropped, the card never sold, and probably way over a year ago I placed the card on the market again, this time in a more "reasonable" price but still enough for a 100% profit, and I think my price was the highest 1 BCX one when I placed the order. And... I basically forgot it there. Until today.

As I entered my Splinterlands account, off to may daily battles, my chin dropped: there was an insane amount of DEC in the account! And for some brief moments, I had no idea how on earth that DEC could be there. Then it reached me: Shin-Lo is gone!

Mine... and a few more others, off to someone thant now has a full Shin-Lo and a few others more.

Only five of those cards in the market now.

It was a special card for me, and I kind of feel sorry for letting her go. But the truth is... in all these years, I probably used it twice. It was more a display piece in my collection than a fierce warrior.

Why am I writing this: I had my share of lucky drops in the game, but this was the most valuable card I sold until now. And this ONE card basically breaks even with ALL my fiat investment in the game. Crypto wise... Splinterlands is my best investment up to date!

Blockchain games are starting to get a lot more attention, and I believe the best is yet to come. For only 10$, the price of a Summoner's spellbook, you can start earning rewards. Even if you don't get a lucky drop, little by little, the dec and cards start to get bigger, and bigger, and bigger; and one day you will look at the value of your collection and think: why the hell haven't I started to play sooner??!!

Even just for investment purposes, there is a good chance that owning land and monster cards will provide for some degree of passive income in the future, and you can already have it just by renting cards on the market.

What will I do with all this DEC? I will take some profits, but most of it will be reinvested: CUBs come to my mind for sure; other cryptos? Exploring other defi platforms?

For the lucky new owner of my Shin-lo: hope you take good care of my little dragon! May it give you great joys, in the battlefield and off it. Who knows, I might see you sell it for twice the value! :) Thank you for the investment boost!
