Hello dear hivers, I am @marfeatures, and I am back with a new blog. How are you? I hope you are all doing well. For today's "blogserye" (blog series), I will be featuring the food that I grew up with, street food. Come and join me, and together let's enjoy the mouthwatering and tasty Filipino street food along the streets of Lapu Lapu City, Cebu.
Filipino streets are no Filipino without street food. Who doesn't like street food? It's what most Filipinos grow up with. Aside from it being tasty and delicious, its affordable price makes all the difference. I am a Filipino earning a minimum wage; of course, I only eat what's affordable, hahah. Going back, street food is common to every corner of the Filipino streets, and each place offers a distinct food native to them, just like the "chicharon" of Carcar and "bibingka" (rice cake) of Catmon.

Here at Lapu Lapu City, I will show you just some of its offered affordable street food, from fresh fruits to boiled, steamed, and fried street food. Yes, you have a variety of options to choose from; you can either choose healthy, fresh fruits cut in front of you or indulge yourself with fried street food that will surely heighten your cholesterol level, hahah. All I can suggest is that you eat moderately; as for me, I just eat occasionally, twice a month, since paydays are on the 15th and 30th of the month, HAHAH.
🍤TEMPURA!
First on our list is the famous tempura, it won't be out if you talk about Filipino street food; it's side by side with fish balls. It is primarily made from flour and fish paste, but it comes with many variations of ingredients and flavors depending on the place. To cook tempura, you just have to deep fry it and eat it with a sauce like vinegar with cucumber and onions.

Potato fries are also on our list; potatoes sound healthy, but the fries sound a little bit alarming, especially if you're talking about cholesterol; that's why you should eat moderately and responsibly, haha. Next is the sweet corn topped with cheese powder; all I can say is that it's mouthwatering. It just bursts in your mouth and, of course, is delicious. This is a must-try street food here. 🍋CITRUS!
If you are looking for a healthier one, then you have to try their fresh fruit series; they have lots of fruit to choose from, but I only tried papaya and citrus. These are some alternatives if you don't want much fries and cholesterol. I super enjoyed it, especially with the papaya; its sweetness coincides with the sourness of the vinegar sauce; it's just flavorful.
🍗FRIED CHICKEN!
Of course, this blog won't end without the fried chicken; this is my common staple ever since, especially during my college days. You can buy one piece of chicken for only 20-25 pesos and partner it with "puso," or rice wrapped with coconut leaves; dinner solved, hahah.
🐣BALOT!
Moreover, your street food experience wouldn't be complete without the star of Filipino street food, the "balot." This is my most favorite among all street food. I can eat even ten simultaneously, hahah. With salt and vinegar, it's just perfect and complements very well. Have you tried balot?
