Loosely translated.
Someone asked. Do we pursue sudden enlightenment, achieve it and then practice the Buddha Amithaba name recitation to go to Amithaba Pureland?
Venerable Chin Kong says no.
He said it’s extremely rare that someone could be achieving what Venerable Huineng achieved. For if someone did, Buddhahood is achieved and no different from Buddha Amithaba.
Better for us to keep to pureland practice, reciting Namo Amituofo, and aspire to go to Amithaba’s pureland upon death. Take the gradual path, progress along the way while, cultivating onself better while in this life. When we make it to the pureland, we can continue to perfect ourselves to full enlightenment.
