Hello friends! Today I want to tell you about the trip I made on Sunday, I went to the Havana Book Fair, which is held at the Fortress of San Carlos de La Cabaña, as it has been happening for several years. I attended this event with three friends and my husband, and it was a wonderful day for several reasons.
¡Hola amigos y amigas! Hoy quiero contarles sobre el paseo que hice el domingo, fui a la Feria del Libro de La Habana, que se realiza en la Fortaleza de San Carlos de La Cabaña, como viene ocurriendo desde hace varios años. Asistí a este evento con tres amigas y mi esposo, y fue un día maravilloso por varias razones.
First of all, I love to attend the book fairs that take place every year in my country. Although I must admit that this year it was a little smaller and the prices were higher, but I still couldn't miss the opportunity to meet up with my friends from more than 30 years ago. Besides, I adore touring this imposing fortress that in the past served to protect Havana from the attacks of corsairs and pirates, and now plays the noble role of protecting books.
En primer lugar, me encanta asistir a las ferias del libro que se realizan cada año en mi país. Aunque debo admitir que este año fue un poco más pequeña y los precios más altos, pero aun así no podía perder la oportunidad de reencontrarme con mis amigas de hace más de 30 años. Además, adoro recorrer esta imponente fortaleza que en el pasado sirvió para proteger La Habana de los ataques de corsarios y piratas, y que ahora desempeña el noble papel de resguardar los libros.
Strolling through the pavilions among the books is like traveling through history and appreciating the priceless architectural jewel that is this fortress. During the walk, I took the opportunity to take several fun photos with my friends. We felt like teenagers again, laughing and enjoying ourselves to the fullest.
Pasear por los pabellones entre los libros es como viajar por la historia y apreciar la joya arquitectónica de incalculable valor que es esta fortaleza. Durante el paseo, aproveché para hacernos varias fotos divertidas con mis amigas. Volvimos a sentirnos como adolescentes, riendo y disfrutando al máximo.
I captured images of the streets and stone buildings full of cannons, which were once used to defend Havana and are now on display as irrefutable evidence of their historical function. My friends and I could not resist the temptation to climb on them and take pictures.

It was a great afternoon. In the Plaza de Armas of La Cabaña, we came across a large sundial, witness of many years. Its unique design shows in the center the base of a small cannon, and as part of its decoration, there are piles of cannonballs. We took pictures in this special place.
Fue una tarde formidable. En la Plaza de Armas de La Cabaña, nos encontramos con un gran reloj de sol, testigo de muchos años. Su diseño exclusivo muestra en el centro la base de un pequeño cañón, y como parte de su decoración, hay pilas de bolas de cañón. Nos tomamos fotos en ese lugar tan especial.
Although the weather was a bit bad and it even rained, the fair was crowded. We toured some of the pavilions, although this time I did not buy books. Instead, I bought some notebooks for one of my husband's granddaughters who needed them for school, it is always a pleasure to walk around this wonderful place full of stories and accompanied by my friends because the daily chores prevent us from seeing each other more often, so this Sunday was a luxury.Looking out through those walls you can see the entrance to the bay and the bustling Havana that looks so quiet from afar.
A pesar de que el tiempo estaba un poco malo y hasta llovió, la Feria estaba concurrida. Recorrimos algunos pabellones, aunque en esta ocasión no compré libros. En cambio, adquirí unas libretas para una de las nietas de mi esposo que las necesitaba para la escuela, siempre es un gusto caminar por todo ese lugar maravilloso lleno de historias y acompañada de mis amigas pues el quehacer diario nos impide vernos mas seguido , así que este domingo a sido de lujo. Mirando a través de esos muros se puede ver la entrada a la bahía y la bulliciosa Habana que parece tan tranquila desde lejos.
It was an exciting and fun trip. The Book Fair gave us the opportunity to share with lifelong friends, explore history in the fortress and enjoy unforgettable moments. Although there are no new books in my library, the memories and photos of this special day will be kept forever, plus I took advantage of this walk to join the #wednesdaywalk challenge promoted by @tattoodjay. Fue un viaje emocionante y divertido. La Feria del Libro nos dio la oportunidad de compartir con amigos de toda la vida, explorar la historia en la fortaleza y disfrutar de momentos inolvidables.
