Upon his return, he continued his acting career and became a founding member of the Circle in the Square Theatre company in Greenwich Village.

    In 1954, he made his Broadway debut in "Fragile Fox" and "The Girl on the Via Flaminia." Wingreen's breakthrough came with his role as Harry Snowden in the TV series "Archie Bunker's Place," which aired from 1979 to 1983. This role solidified his reputation as a versatile character actor. Wingreen's talent extended beyond acting, as he was also a voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

    Despite his notable contributions to both the "Star Trek" and "Airplane!" franchises, Wingreen remains best remembered for his iconic portrayal of the voice of bounty hunter Boba Fett in "Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back" (1980).

    Wingreen was married to Gloria Scott Backe from 1955 until her death in 1996, and they had one child together. Throughout his career, Wingreen's raspy and menacing voice became his trademark, captivating audiences in various roles. His impact on Hollywood and the entertainment industry is undeniable, and his talents continue to be celebrated even after his passing on December 25, 2015.
