While we were in Phnom Penh I picked up some off-road tires for my SuperCub 90 because the roads here are full of sand, gravel, and potholes.

The wider knobby tires for my bike will be of great use here because the road here is worse than some off-road trails during parts of the year. There are also many nearby destinations that require a 4x4 or properly equipped motorbike to get reach, so some off-road tires seemed like a nice choice. I even have tire markers, so I took the time to paint the letters white and give it a little vintage pizazz. I didn't install the front tire yet because there is still some rubber left, but the bike already feels more stable and sticky on the roads and trails.

    🛵 Trail-Riding Has Begun ⛰️

Speaking of off-road, the only road here is national highway because we live in a wildlife sanctuary, so when it comes to learning how to ride, it's either high-speed or extreme off-roading. 100 meters from our home the old road diverges from the new highway, and the villagers have kept it alive with a singletrack motorbike trail running all the way to where the old bridge was blown up during the Khmer Rouge days.

Speaking of Khmer Rouge times, a few weeks ago there were some landmine explosions near us on an active home construction site, with two people apparently severely injured. Things like this make our adventures on this old roar a little more adventurous I guess. As far as I know, CMAC and HALO haven't done any landmine work in our village, but they did mark the old road along our fenceline as a future site to clear. If mines are found we may have to rebuild parts of our fence, but that's life in Cambodia yo'.

🐈‍⬛ ChairWoman Meow 🦎 Gecko Eliminator

ChairWoman Meow could care less about motorcycle tires, but she's a godless killing machine fueled by seaweed chips and gecko meat. Life is pretty simple when all you need is reptilian snacks, dust baths, and lots of naps, and somehow she still smells better than me most of the time. As we're vegan, I think our food choices tend to draw rodents a little more than the average home, but with Meow in our lives our flour, rice, veggies, and fruits are safe and sound.

I recenly got a bigger and better UPS battery backup, and we've also moved back into the brick house to free up the cabin for guests. I've showed Meow that UPS units are good sources of heat in the morning, and it also happens to be a good place to watch the wall behind the fridge for gecko activity, so it's now one of her favorite spots. On this day I made it more comfortable by making a bed from dirty laundry for her to cook herself on.
