A few weeks ago I mentioned to you that I would go for a tour of a museum that caught my attention, located in front of the Luisa Cáceres square in the capital of Nueva Esparta (La Asunción). Keeping my word, today I will show you the tour I did in the Nueva Cadiz museum.

Hace unas semanas les mencioné que iría a dar un recorrido por un museo que me llamó la atención, ubicado frente a la plaza Luisa Cáceres en la capital de Nueva Esparta (La Asunción). Cumpliendo mi palabra, hoy les mostraré el recorrido que hice en el museo Nueva Cádiz.
Upon entering the museum, we register as visitors where we leave our signature.
Al entrar al museo, realizamos un registro como visitantes donde dejamos plasmada nuestra firma.
The museum floor is of highly polished yellow and green granite, blending perfectly with the white walls decorated with inlaid wood.
El piso del museo es de granito amarillo y verde muy bien pulido, combinando a la perfección con las paredes blancas decoradas con maderas incrustadas.
We explored a room on the first floor that displayed a model of an ancient ship next to a diver's suit used to obtain pearls.
Exploramos una sala en la planta baja que exhibía una maqueta de un barco antiguo junto a el un trajes de buzos utilizados para la obtención de perlas.
At the other end we find a rustic machine used to send air through a hose to the diving suits.
Al otro extremo encontramos una máquina rústica utilizada para enviar aire a través de una manguera a los trajes de buzos.
One wall displayed swords and costumes of colonists who came to the island in search of pearls.
En una pared se mostraban espadas y trajes de colonizadores que llegaron a la isla en búsqueda de perlas.
We went up some stairs that took us to the upper floor where the room "Las perlas de Cubagua" (The pearls of Cubagua) is located. Learning more about Cubagua, a small island located in the northwest of Venezuela, I discovered its history and appreciated ancient pieces such as vessels and tools, as well as collections of shells and pearls.
Subimos por unas escaleras que nos llevaron a la planta alta donde se encuentra la sala "Las perlas de Cubagua". Al conocer más sobre Cubagua, una pequeña isla ubicada al noroeste de Venezuela, descubrí su historia y aprecié piezas antiguas como vasijas y herramientas, así como colecciones de conchas y perlas.
In another room we found various pictorial works related to Cubagua, each with its own unique style. After touring the entire upper floor, we decided to explore the museum's courtyard.
En otra sala encontramos diversas obras pictóricas relacionadas con Cubagua, cada una con su estilo único. Después de recorrer toda la planta alta, decidimos explorar el patio del museo.
In the courtyard there is a large maritime anchor and different stone vessels. There was also a statue of the tyrant López de Aguirre, a cruel conqueror.
En el patio se destaca una gran ancla marítima y distintas vasijas de piedra. También había una estatua del tirano López de Aguirre, un cruel conquistador.
At the back of the patio there was a huge roofed fountain representing a relief map of Isla Margarita; according to the kind lady in charge, it used to have sea turtles and water running all over the fountain; at the moment it is being remodeled to make it one hundred percent operative.
Al fondo del patio se encontraba una enorme fuente techada representando un mapa relieve de la Isla Margarita; según nos contó la amable señora encargada, anteriormente tenía tortugas marinas y Coria el agua por toda la fuente, en estos momentos la están remodelando para ponerla ciento por ciento operativa.
Next to the fountain were giant whale bones that caught my attention because of their imposing size.
Junto a la fuente había huesos gigantes de ballena que llamaron mi atención por su tamaño imponente.
I was also able to observe an old canoe being restored in the courtyard garden.
También pude observar una antigua canoa en proceso de restauración en el jardín del patio.
In the garden there is a space with beautiful daisies, next to them there was a cannon with its round projectiles, also from that period.
En el jardín hay un espacio con lindas margaritas, junto a ellas se encontraba un cañón con sus proyectiles redondos, también de la época.
As we left the courtyard, near the front door we saw a detailed map showing the three islands: Margarita, Coche and Cubagua belonging to Nueva Esparta.
Al salir del patio, cerca de la puerta principal vimos un mapa detallado mostrando las tres islas: Margarita, Coche y Cubagua pertenecientes a Nueva Esparta.
We bid a cordial farewell to the lady in charge before leaving and noticed the colonial chairs lined up towards the exit.
Nos despedimos cordialmente de la señora encargada antes de marcharnos y notamos las sillas coloniales alineadas hacia la salida.
