Garden Journal Wrap Up - February

in voilk •  2 months ago

    Although we're not officially offering prizes, sometimes we can't resist! Thanks for everyone who entered the challenge, engaged with others, and entertained us as well as informed us. Us gardeners really appreciate you!

    Please remember it's really hard to get to everyone as curating here isn't a paid job, but something we do because we enjoy it. When life gets busy, sometimes it takes a while to get around to your post. If we missed you here, it's not because we don't like you - it's because it's hard to include every single post. If you've missed an upvote or reblog, by all means let us know, but we're only human doing the best we can. We can't guarantee a wrap up post every month, but we do try! We hope you understand. Saying that, if you'd like to help out with curating, please get in touch.

    Here's some of our favourites.

    @fermentedphil wrote this little poem that many of us can identify with, right? His post was so carefully presented and we really appreciate that!

    the world has gone crazy;
    and everything is speeding up;
    but I am trying to slow down;
    and garden to stay sane and calm

    Don't you love @friendlymoose's shelf for cuttings and small plants?

    @yuliadi from Indonesia explained the insect problesm on his rice crops and how they often light fires to keep them away. Unfortunately he did have to use some pesticides though, but when your livelihood depends on it you have to do what you have to do.

    Have to say this was one of our favourite photos - look at Angrek's happy smiling face and the beautiful red of the chilli!

    In the Netherlands @karinxxl is getting a head start on some of her plants with a grow light. Nice work! In Germany, @akiponn's lemon tree is shivering on the balcony and they are growing microgreens. Winter never stops mad keen gardeners! @sunscape is also planting some seeds in winter! Always good to get ahead of the game. @thebigsweed has a snowy garden, but check out his shitake logs! Given our cover photo had mushrooms this month, nicely played!

    A lovely post also from @cvnuitter, and check out the eggplant and chilli crop.

    @multifacetas wrote about her gorgeous pink ixora. @waralwa wrote about a kokodama workshop - check them out below!

    @eolianpariah2 shared their garden in India, complete with pesky monkeys. Isn't this orchid beautiful?
