My Convocation ceremony was two days ago but I couldn't attend. I planned on heading there was I was done with my students but for some reason I spent extra time correcting some of their errors and totally forgot I was on the clock. By the time I recalled myself, it was impossible to meet up with because of traffic. I am glad though that I didn't spend the time wandering but on my students whom I believe will shape the future.
My good friend once told me that times like these are better celebrated with art and since I've tried it once I twice I agree with him. And that my friends is why I was able to draw this and make the post earlier than I usually do.

    The card

Unlike my previous sketches which I most times improvise after drawing the lineart. On this particular piece of art I had to make sure that I got it right to a great extent. This is because I noticed the intricacies of the sketch and how these little details can add up to a beautiful whole.

Once the lineart was done the next thing was to trace it out with a more visible and sustainable pen

the previous process continued well up to this point. I didn't even know when I finished drawing this, that's however fast everything went. Usually I would've started painting but the flow was great.

I painted the eyes deeply Red as that was the original colour of the eyes in the card. The parts of the ear, nose and body that were pink or orange in colour were also shaded Red but lightly. I threw in some black to achieve a little depth.

Raging on, I shaded its hood black based on effect and I was also able to cover its skin with some blue

I continued the same process, following the rhythm but increasing depth where necessary.

... the same thing went on here

    IMG_4037.jpeg

I shaded its fist which is a crucial part of its being. To achieve depth here too I added some black and shaded lighter for highlights

The finishing touches were not much and since the figure was already visible I was confident enough to even leave some parts unshaded.

The materials I used while making this sketch are blue, black and red pens from two brands: BIC and SCHNEIDER

You are more than welcome to stop by any time you feel like it. I promise to always keep you entertained with my art.
