Puede que el título suene un poco exagerado pero para mi es el resumen perfecto de lo que vivimos en esta primera vuelta de los cuartos de final de la Champions League. Antes de que comenzara esta edición se habló mucho de par de cosas: en primer lugar de que sería la primera Champions sin Messi ni CR7 después de unos cuantos años y la segunda es que Mbappé y Haaland serían los encargados de cubrir esos huecos dejados por aquellos monstruos del deporte. La cosa es que lo segundo siento que no se está cumpliendo a cabalidad. Y es osado de mi parte decir esto teniendo en cuenta que el francés es un campeón mundial y el noruego se llevó un triplete la temporada pasada pero la realidad actual no se puede tapar con un dedo.
The title may sound a bit exaggerated but for me it is the perfect summary of what we lived in this first round of the quarterfinals of the Champions League. Before this edition started, there was a lot of talk about a couple of things: firstly that it would be the first Champions League without Messi and CR7 after a few years and secondly that Mbappé and Haaland would be in charge of filling the gaps left by those monsters of the sport. The thing is that I feel that the latter is not being fully fulfilled. And it is bold of me to say this considering that the Frenchman is a world champion and the Norwegian won a hat-trick last season but the current reality cannot be covered with a finger.
El día martes se llevó a cabo una final anticipada en el Santiago Bernabéu en donde los dos mejores clubes del mundo se vieron las caras en un partido que la verdad creo que no defraudó a nadie o bueno quizás un poco si. Por un lado teníamos a los actuales campeones y defensores de la orejona con casi toda su plantilla en pleno, menos De Bruyne que fue baja de última hora, y que en su lugar entraría Foden mientras que del otro lado teníamos a los merengues con la que para mi es un alineación estelar, con excepción de Lunin claro está. Comenzaba el partido, uno que para mi fue de etapas ya que por momentos el protagonismo fue del Madrid y por otros fue del City siendo estos los primeros en marcar.

Si, fue un partido de seis goles para todos los gustos, verdaderos golazos vimos pero ninguno de ellos por el lado del Manchester fue hecho por Haaland. Es más, el androide no tocó prácticamente el balón, chutó una sola vez al arco, cero regates, cero intentos, cero asistencias, anulado por completo por un gran Rudiger. Esto no es sorpresa, la temporada actual de Erling está siendo bastante discreta, lleva 6 goles en Champions y uno solo en lo que va de año, a lo mejor estoy siendo duro y exagerado pero es más común verlo perdido en el campo que haciendo goles. El tema con este jugador es que cuando decide hacer goles los hace de 2 a 3 goles y entonces la balanza se vuelve a equilibrar un poco.
Sí, fue un partido de seis goles para todos los gustos, vimos algunos grandes goles, pero ninguno de ellos por parte del Manchester fue marcado por Haaland. Es más, el androide apenas tocó el balón, disparó una sola vez a puerta, cero regates, cero intentos, cero asistencias, completamente anulado por un gran Rudiger. Esto no es ninguna sorpresa, la temporada actual de Erling está siendo bastante discreta, lleva 6 goles en Champions y sólo uno en lo que va de año, quizás estoy siendo duro y exagerando pero es más habitual verle perdido en el campo que marcando goles. El tema con este jugador es que cuando se decide a meter goles mete 2 o 3 goles y luego vuelve un poco el equilibrio.
La realidad es que no fue un buen partido del noruego, no fue diferencial en ninguna etapa de juego con todo y que los de Pep tuvieron más el balón, completaron más pases y remataron más al arco. Está claro la envergadura de este crack pero es lo de siempre, al ser un nueve puro no hace de pivote ni baja a buscar pelotas, de allí a que sea más fácil perderse en el área y más si estás siendo marcado por una bestia como lo es Rudiger. También está claro que a este City no le hacen falta sus goles ya que cuentan con Foden, Bernardo Silva, De Bruyne y el mismo Julián Álvarez quienes son los que sacan las casta cuando a Haaland se le moja la pólvora. ¿Peligra el pase del City si continúa esta "apatía" de cara al gol? - nadie lo sabe. Un 3-3 es un resultado ampliamente abierto de cara a la vuelta; cualquier cosa puede pasar, para mi es imposible pronosticar un resultado final después de haber visto lo de la noche del martes.

El otro que pasó una mala noche fue el que para muchos es el mejor jugador del mundo actualmente, Kylian Mbappé. Pero acá hay una diferencia abismal y es que PSG no es el City, el equipo francés es la nada, es la gran mentira de Europa, un equipo inflado con fichajes millonarios, casi 300 millones, para que al final todos esos jugadores estuvieran en la banca al momento de pitazo inicial. El Barcelona fue muy superior en la primera parte, línea por línea, jugador por jugador, los blaugranas superaron a un PSG que se encontró poco en esos 45 primeros minutos. Pasó algo muy parecido acá y es que Kylian estuvo un marcaje doble por parte de Araujo y Koundé quienes se encargaron de encasillarlo y dejarlo relegado a su esquina en el lado izquierdo.

Nadie duda del potencial del francés, es muy probable que en la vuelta se crezca en España, pero la imagen que dio el día de ayer en su casa ante, probablemente, el último partido de Champions en París fue muy opaca y triste. Este PSG para mi no tiene nada que ofrecer, es verdad que en la segunda parte mejoró un poco su accionar pero con todo y eso fue insuficiente para ganarle a un Barcelona que sorprendentemente viene jugando bastante bien. Donnarumma es otro cuyo nivel es deplorable, no es la primera vez que se le ve fallos así.

Al final estos dos equipos tendrán que esperar que sus máximas estrellas logren un mejor desempeño tanto en el Etihad como en el Lluís Companys de Barcelona. No será fácil, como comenté no veo un ganador claro entre el City y el Madrid pero si puedo ver una ligera ventaja hacia el Barcelona contra el PSG, tendría que ser un partido casi perfecto de Mbappé y compañía para poder superar al Barcelona. Se nos vienen infartos la semana entrante.
