Trying Out Lunch from Chiang Mai Inspired Thai Restaurant

Family gatherings are hard to come by, when everyone stays at least 30 miles (almost 50km) apart and work hours are long; but whenever there’s a chance to gather, it is always great to meet up, even though this is post Chinese New Year.

And sometimes it is even better to meet up post “peak seasons” so that we actually have more time to catch up, instead of rushing off from one eatery to another.

We were blessed with an opportunity to visit this Thai Restaurant that my aunt loves to visit, and since we managed to attend the first church service and finished early, we were able to enjoy an undisturbed brunch together.

The food there is actually not bad at all and seniors / foreigner friendly who cannot tolerate too much spicy food.

Especially their friendly "Thai Green Curry"

Usually, Thai green curry is actually quite spicy, but the owner and his wife have decided to tone down the spice by preparing their own curry paste yet managed to retain the spicy-sweet flavour for seniors to enjoy. At least for those who has less spicy tolerance, they can enjoy a decent meal, which is a great pair with white rice.

And speaking of the white rice, the cute “heart shaped” rice is a pretty interesting touch and according to my rice-loving dad who enjoyed it, it must have cooked in a nice water ratio, fluffy and not too dry.
The fried vermicelli is a little on the dry side, but the taste is nice. I always like a good plate, but it is more Chinese style than the usual pad-thai frying style. Usually, it is served with glass noodles, but vermicelli is a nice touch, too.

Because the last 2 weeks most of the food is either cookies / meat based, having a plate of mix vegetable stir fry brings a more balanced meal for the bowel.
Overall, the ambience is great, and I believe it is more popular with steamboat/hotpot + BBQ, but since recently the weather has been very hot and dry, hotpot is definitely not a good choice today.

Moreover, the plus is the service. Just so happened the owner of the shop was around, and he has been really great checking with us how the food is. Food quality can always keep improving; but without good service, even having a Michelin star will not last too long either.
    (That’s my personal POV)
