| Эту необычную для меня птицу я увидела на реке Ловать в городе Великие Луки в Псковской области. Это было 27 августа 2023 года. Среди знакомых мне уток-крякв я увидела птицу поменьше с тонкой шеей. | I saw this unusual bird for me on the Lovat River in the city of Velikiye Luki in the Pskov region. It was August 27, 2023. Among the mallard ducks I knew, I saw a smaller bird with a thin neck. |

| И вдруг птица не просто окунула голову в воду, как делают утки или лебеди, а просто в одно мгновение полностью исчезла под водой. И я уже начала волноваться, потому что птица долго не выныривала. | And suddenly the bird did not just dip its head into the water, as ducks or swans do, but simply completely disappeared under the water in an instant. And I already began to worry, because the bird did not surface for a long time. |

| Я попробовала поискать в интернете, что это за птица. Скорее всего, это большая поганка, или чомга (лат. Podiceps cristatus) — вид водных птиц из семейства поганковых. Они распространены почти по всей России. Но предпочитают тихие водоемы. Я лично увидела такую птицу в природе первый раз. Видимо, Ловать им кажется достаточно тихой рекой. | I tried to search on the Internet what kind of bird this was. Most likely, this is a great crested grebe, or grebe (lat. Podiceps cristatus) - a species of aquatic bird from the grebe family. They are distributed almost throughout Russia. But they prefer quiet bodies of water. I personally saw such a bird in nature for the first time. Apparently, the Lovat seems to them to be a fairly quiet river. |
