Freedom is a concept that everyone cherishes so much, and it is believed to be an opportunity to be out of bounds and enjoy the privilege of being in-charge of your life. However, the sad reality about freedom is that it is burdensome and not only that but also comes with a huge price to pay, such as constant vigilance, responsibility, and sacrifice.
The Burden of Choice
When we have freedom, we are also given full privileges to make choices, but the right to decide what to do and how to do can be very stressful, when you know that every single decision make has it consequences and since we were the ones who made the decision we will be let with no choice than to face it's consequences, the burden of accountability lies solely on our shoulders. The freedom to choose our path in life means we must also accept the results that may come as the product of our decisions, whether good or bad. I've seen some young people who demanded for freedom and left the comfort of their parents house and when they got out they reality and some could not survive it.
The Price of Protection
Freedom is not free, that is what most people fail to understand it requires a greater level of protection and defense. For instance you will see Nations who are independent spending so much resources on military and law enforcement to safeguard their citizens' liberties. Likewise Individuals who desire freedom must be ready to also invest time and effort in staying informed, engaging in civic duties, and holding leaders accountable to ensure your freedom is not eroded.
The Responsibility of Action
A story of my life, when I started the university away from home, reality got up on me, then I started taking responsibility for myself, I have a think of what to eat, when to wake up on my own this time there was no family member to help me do anything i became responsible and matured. Then I realized that freedom is very burdensome in nature and it's evident in the consequences of our actions. Leaving home for school has made me realize that I must face the repercussions of my decisions, whether Good or bad, the freedom to pursue my goals became clearer to me that there is risk involved which is failure. This alone is enough to know that freedom is not free though it gives us the power to shape our lives and decide what we want, it also requires us to accept the weight that may come with the responsibility, accountability, and sacrifice.
