Just as the title says, this series melted me softly in many ways. I can't believe I've been choosing to see other series over this one long before i finally decided to see it. I read it's plot online, but it didn't move me to see it. The male lead, Ji Chang Wook was the only reason I decided on it.
The plot I read was kinda ridiculous to me so I kept pushing the time I'll see it but I couldn't hold back anymore when I saw the female lead in "She Would Never Know" and had my interest piqued to see her star a role alongside Ji Chang Wook. I figured I'll have a dose of good chemistry on it.
Cryogenics!!! This series taught me about a new kind of science but of course in a fictious way because from my researches after, it's not scientifically proven to work as planned and even if it ever does, the movie didn't portray the outcome as it should be (being brain damaged).
"Melting Me Softly" is a 16 episode Korean series released in the year 2019. A masterpiece to help picture what it could be like to have the cryogenic science work as we humans hope. If you don't know what Cryogenics means, the plot of the movie will reveal it and you can search it out too.
A variety show director decides to take his job to another level by accepting a cryogenic experiment proposal and becomes one of the humans to participate in it. A daring lady also got convinced to participate in the experiment, they are both freezed with a countdown of 24 hours.
Experiment went wrong two hours to the end and they were awaken 20 years after. Waking up to families and friends who have aged 20 more years while they are still in their young age trying to navigate through a life that seemed to have gone faster without them in unexpected ways.
Right from the moment they woke up, grasping for breathe, I just concluded in my mind that I was up for something that will never happen in reality, a very fictious storyline but I was in for the fun of how they'll be able to act their usual selves in a fast world and the lead characters chemistry.
Their lives after the experiment was chaotic and full of funny scenes, but one thing that stood out for me is how they never let us forget they have an unusual tempareture as humans and so the temperature watch, the love emotion control, and the scare of death twists were so cool to watch.
I still can't get one of the kiss scene out of my head, I can only imagine how much effort they put into making the scene that perfect. It's a unique storyline with lots of unique scenes and I like the touch of the early years in the story too, I mean the year they went in for the experiment.
As I always expect in his movies, Ji Chang Wook killed his role both in romance and comedy. Won Jin-ah did just as much with her role as he did and I can't think of any other female that would have been perfect for the role other than her. Her bond with her autistic brother was so good too!
With storylines like this, expecting a happy ending could be too much to ask but this one ended better than I expected and so if you'll see it for any reason, it should be for the "feel good" storyline it has. It's going to melt you softly with good chemistry and crazy supporting characters.
I'll highly recommend this very fictious but interesting series for your fun time, I'll give it a rating of 8/10. Let me know your thoughts on it.
