Maybe A Cyber Girlie?

If there are any two things you can’t afford to have no knowledge or zeal for, it would have to be technology and crypto. These two phenomena rule the world of today, and the world of our tomorrow. You can just tell, by the way the world is progressing and by the speed to which it's doing that. Everyone knows crypto is the giant shaping the financial world of today, and what about tech? It’s been there from time, constantly evolving, perpetually shifting and progressing every day. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of it?

I never saw myself as a tech girlie of any form, except for the fact that when asked to choose an elective in highschool between catering, fisheries and data processing, I chose data processing without thinking, even though I knew a lot of my friends would go to catering. But yeah, apart from that singular move that made me realize I was curious about the tech and digital world, nothing else revealed it.

Through a cousin of mine, who is heavily invested in technology, like he’s a tech bro raised to the power of ten, I got exposed to a lot of skills...by name. The first thing he learnt was data analysis and when he gained mastery of that, he learnt prompt engineering, with regards to AI, and then programming, and I think that’s the one I was kind of locked in on for a while. From my little time of being a Data Processing student in high school, I had already known the names of programming languages like Java, JavaScript, C++, and so on....

But seeing it in HD and then the hype of being programmers or coders, it was not long before I realized that maybe, this was not for me. I do think that it could turn out to be something I learn in future because I think I’m in that phase where gaining as many tech skills as possible is appealing, but I don’t think learning Programming as a tech skill is my dream one. For now.

Now, it was when my cousin started learning one final skill that I knew that I’d found my jackpot. Cybersecurity. The name alone did wonders to me and I was hooked. Maybe it’s a family thing because this is the tech skill he finally chose to make a career out of, and is now one of the best cyber security experts in the country. I can’t begin to talk about just how much I wish I had Cybersecurity as a skill.

Think about having the ability to safeguard your computer and networks from both physical and software threats. Imagine being able to know the routes to thoroughly protect your computer and software from attacks. The potential threats being things like phishing attacks, theft, malware installations and so on. Cybersecurity skills that aid you to combat threats like these now involve your ability to troubleshoot, hacking capabilities, software development skills, etc.

The good thing about learning a skill like Cybersecurity is that you can just tell it’s a skill that will be the relevant far into the future. Most tech skills are like that anyway. But people who have Cybersecurity as a skill are in high demand currently and will continue to be. This is because as more companies and businesses are becoming reliant on information technology as a means of performing their operations, the skills of a cybersecurity expert are becoming increasingly important.

I’m still going to write about my new tech journey as it involves becoming a VA(Virtual Assistant) in another post. But for now, this is me telling you that in a heartbeat, if I could learn(and I will learn anyway) any tech skill right now or if there was anyone I’d want to be a master of the snap of a finger, it would be becoming a Cybersecurity expert.

So yeah, this skill matters in a lot of ways which I’d mentioned above and I hope I’ll still be able to share my journey in this space when I get around to learning it.
