Good day Hive. I am excited to share to you my Wednesday walk together with my son, nephew, and nieces in quiet and peaceable surroundings. We spend our holiday morning on the cold seawater of Kantil. It is just a walk from home. It is one of my favorite places to walk, to reflect, to refresh, and to reconnect with nature. While walking on the area, I take a photograph on its refreshing view.

According to my mother, Kantil is a vernacular language (Visayan language) which means “a small sea cliff”. The local people who live nearby named the area Kantil. It is also the area where you can find the famous cave in barangay Muabog, the Dikong Cave. It is a private property. The owner only allows local people to have a picnic and swimming on its seaboard. There is no entrance fee. They are good people. The only thing they ask is to observe cleanliness and peace on the place.

Even though this place is not new to me, I never get tired of seeing its beauty. I love the clean landscape, the clear water, and the coconuts that added an amazing view on the area. I love nature. I love mother Earth. I love the place. While walking on the seaboard, I observed that the water is clean and clear that you can see the rocks and small fishes on the seafloor. I can see on the faces of my much loved buddies how happy they are, swimming and playing on the water.

The original owners of the property on the right part are the Quimque Family and the Maupo Family on the left part. Some portion of the land was sold to different persons.

Right now, a portion of the property still belong to Quimque Family and the other portion on the left side of the coast was owned by a private individual and the portion on the right where the cave located was sold to the new owner.

During the pandemic, a lot of people from different places coming in to the area to do swimming, picnic, getting inside the cave and filming. There are vloggers also visited the area. Before it was known to the public, the area is clean and peaceful. You can only see fishermen and residents of the barangay swimming on its shore.

The time that a lot of people know this hidden paradise, that is the phase also that the area is getting busy. Some visitors, but not all of them, coming to the area are shouting and bringing bluetooth speaker. On the top of that, some garbage is just left inside the cave.

Even if I will not tell you, you already knew the possible reaction of the owner. They allow the tourists and resident people to visit the area for free and the only favor they ask in return is the cleanliness and solemnness of the area especially on the cave. It is really important to respect the place every time we visit. Knowing and reading the rules and signage in any area is a must, either public or private places. Even without any signage or people watching us, we already knew what is right and what is wrong. Our parents at home and teachers in school taught us good manners and right conduct. We need to be thoughtful and responsible in visiting a place.

The Complete View of the Seaboard

The cave has two entrances. The first one is facing the north while the other one is facing the ocean. There are lots of birds dwelling on the wall and there are also bats hanging on the ceiling of the cave.

You can also do swimming inside the cave. There are parts of the cave that was developed by the previous owner because it is where they put their jet ski.

    The Entrance of Dikong Cave

Sad to say, I can no longer watch the inner beauty of Dikong Cave again, because the new owner no longer allowed anybody to get in. They put a signage on the entrance of the cave, restricting anybody to get inside the cave.

I regret that I was not able to take picture on the cave. I do not want to trespass the property. I am already thankful that they allow us, the residents to walk on the area and enjoy the seawater; even though it is a private place. Also, I did not see any fishing boats on the area anymore.

Whenever I am on the area, I recall the good memories I have with my friends swimming and getting inside the cave when I was a kid. I can still picture out on my mind the natural looks of the cave even at this moment. I never forget it. I have a collection of precious memories from this place since when I was eleven years old.

I remembered after we get fire woods from the forest, my friends and I walked by on this area, we automatically dive and swim especially when the ocean is calm, the water is clear, high tide, not a lot of sea grasses are floating, and no big waves. We are all kids, all females and almost the same age, but they are a very good swimmer. They knew a lot of stroke; they can swim like a butterfly, a dog, a frog, and like the style of a mermaid.

In fact, they are the one who teach me how to swim. We never stop swimming until our mother look for us and bringing a detached branch of guava or tamarind tree. The appearance of our mother on the area is like a big wave coming to us. We already knew what will happen and the purpose of the branch or a piece of stick on their hand. We understand that they are just thinking of our safety. The experience is a hair-raising, yet a happy memory.
