Today, I Made Delicious and Tasty Singara – Easy Recipe for Perfectly Crispy Bengali Snack!

    Many days later I made tasty homemade singara looks delicious! Here’s a recipe and description to make singara with a similar filling. Singara is a type of savory pastry, commonly found in Bengali and Indian cuisine, similar to samosas but with a unique potatos filling and shape. Let’s go through the recipe!

    Ingredients:

    For the Dough:

    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • 2 tbsp oil or ghee
    • A pinch of salt
    • Water, as needed

    For the Filling:

    • 2 medium potatoes, peeled and diced into small cubes
    • 1/4 cup green peas (optional)
    • 1 green chili, finely chopped
    • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
    • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
    • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
    • 1/2 tsp garam masala
    • Salt, to taste
    • 1-2 tbsp oil for cooking

    Instructions:

    1. Prepare the Dough:

    In a mixing bowl, add the flour, salt, and oil/ghee.
    Rub the oil into the flour until it becomes crumbly in texture.
    Gradually add water and knead to form a smooth, stiff dough. Cover it with a damp cloth and set aside for 15-20 minutes.

    2. Make the Filling:

    • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
    • Add cumin seeds and let them splutter, then add chopped green chili.
    • Add the diced potatoes and cook for a few minutes.
    • Add turmeric, red chili powder, and salt, mixing well.
    • Cover and cook on low heat until the potatoes are soft.
    • Add green peas and cook for another 2-3 minutes, if using.
    • Sprinkle garam masala, mix, and let it cool.

    3. Shape and Fill the Singaras:

    • Divide the dough into small balls and roll each ball into a small circle.
    • Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of the dough circle.
    • Fold and pinch the edges to form a unique shape, making sure they’re sealed
      well.

    4. Cook the Singaras:

    Heat oil in a deep pan for frying.
    Fry the singaras over medium heat until golden brown and crisp.
    Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.

    5. Serve:

    Serve hot with ketchup, tamarind chutney, or green chutney on the side.
    Enjoy your fun, crispy singara!
