So, last Saturday we had our hangout as usual, and it was just so much fun we did not want it to end. We are currently on the first topic for this week which is “THE COST OF LIVING”.
But before we proceed with the details of the topic, let us take a look at the winners of the last topic which was “VIOLENCE”.
This topic was geared toward each member of the community telling us about their thoughts on violence in the modern era and how the world seemed to be ravaged by it. Many are of the opinion that despite watching violent movies and playing violent games, all that has little to no effect on the rate of violence present in the world at large.
We got to see the opinions of others on this. Some supported this idea, and others believed that indeed, the content we consume can also be a key factor in deciding the rate of violence that we get to face in society. It was an enlightening topic, indeed.
For this topic, we went through every entry post, and that is every post with the #hl-exclusive & #hl-w158e3 tag. And with the number of wonderful posts out there it was quite difficult to make a selection. But eventually, we did just that. And so, the posts that will be featured not just for their exceptional content, but also for their level of engagement with other authors will be listed below.

This author told us that violent movies and games weren’t the root cause of violence in society, however, they also had a major role to play in the grand scheme of things. People resort to violence for different reasons and at this rate, it is a vice that we might never be able to fully get rid of. That’s just how bad it is. The only hope we can have is to raise our young ones to know that violence never really solves problems, but makes matters worse.

For this author, he’s of the opinion that despite the fact that movies usually have a huge influence on the viewers, it’s up to them to decide how exactly it influences their thoughts and actions. Growing up in a violent place and watching violent movies will only make a person violent if they choose to allow it.

For this author, she talked about how we all carried within us, the seed of good and evil and it’s our decisions that determine whether good or evil takes prominence in society. There’s no definitive pattern as to what exactly causes violence, but it’s surely a part of us. One that can’t be avoided.
