During the time of Christmas the entire city lits up with colourful lights and Christmas theme decoration. Be it office shops or market area, it was chaos, celebration and people can be seen enjoying the festive mood and also getting ready to welcome the new year. It was a tale of big cities that I had been for so many years. The vibrant red / Green / White accents added a festive touch to the ocassion. I was expecting a similar festive mood at my née location but unfortunately, it was not as expected.

This time I also noticed a less charm at the social media account especially #WhatsApp. Earlier I used to get many wishes but this around it was kind of silent on the platform. A few groups had one or two messages otherwise, it doesn't seems to be a festival season. I woke up confused this morning. Being a new place, and my first gristmas I am not aware much about the place. I knew there is a big catholic Church nearby. So I went up straight to get a festive feel.

Further to my surprise, the place was bit crowded but the Church was closed for genersl public. It was learnt that due to public littering at the place the Church remain closed on Cbristmas, however there used to be a grand celebration. I have seen public at the place quite enthusiastic about Christmas festival. There were lot of crowds gathered in front of the purchase gate and taking selfie and litting candles.

To entertain the visitors, there were many mini stalls comes up selling cake and pastries. They were looking delicious. Cakes became popular during Christmas because they were traditionally used as a way to "line the stomach" after a period of fasting before the holiday. Early Christmas cakes originating as a type of plum porridge that was eaten on Christmas Eve to prepare for a large feast. Those were tempting but were priced quite heavenly.

I spent there for fee minutes waiting to get dark, as I wanted to see the Church building litting up with colourful lights. I spent the time observing the differrnt public and the vendors selling differrnt item on the roads. It does not take long to see the Church lightening up with colourful lights.

Even after spending so much time in front of the churchbgate, I was not getting vibes I was expecting during the Christmas time. The Christmas tree wwerr missing and so does the bells and decoration. I went straight upto the nearby market, in search of festivity mood. Being a smaller city, the charm was not there as people were more limited to their own routine. I was getting upset, however, one of the restaurant area was decorated what I was looking for. There were Cbristmas tree and all kind of decoration.

Even though the place was empty, I find the much needed festive mood, that I was looking for. These decoration were very familiar to me while living in big cities. It was later learnt that people Herr enjoy the day differently. They goes to picnic with family in parks and enjoy the day. I was expecting a smaller fair at the Church, bit it was missing. With ages the small city losing the charm, but yet the craze was there looking at the crowd near the Church.

    Wishing everyone "Merry Christmas"

    Peace!!
