WE WIN SOME AND LOSE SOME

I have always had a business spirit since I was little, and somehow, I knew I would eventually have my own personal business, even if it was a side hustle. I have tried a lot of businesses in my life, and while some failed woefully, some were actually a success. One thing I have always admired about myself is the ability to always get back on my feet no matter the dissapointment. I started business since my first year in the university, asides those small ones I did before I even entered the university at all.

Shortly after I got admission into the university, I picked up a side hustle to make small money then. I was collecting cupcakes from a particular student to resell😂 Before I started this side hustle, I already had these ideas in my head on how I would go about the sales. In my head, I saw myself selling more than 50pcs in a single day😂. However, I was smart enough to cut my coat according to my cloth, so I only collected a dozen in a day. Guess what guys? Sales moved so low and all the imagination I had imagine in my head started becoming blurry.

I was very shy too (Imagine a shy business woman o!), and even when I took the courage to take it around the class to advertise, they were all just staying that they were going to buy next time. I got a lot of "I don't eat cakes" as well, I was so discouraged because I barely sold. In one word, the side hustle failed and I stopped selling the cupcakes eventually.

On the other hand, after I suffered a major loss in 2020, I started selling plain t-shirts in 2021. This was the time when those kind of t-shirts started becoming a trend especially in universities, so this made the sales really fast. I remember buying close to 200 pieces and selling out really fast. Apart from my own customers, I had resellers as well and this really improved sales. I used most of the gain to settle the debt I was in at that particular time, so it came in handy.

I sold these these till I finished the university, and even till now, I still get few other even with the fact that I do not post about it anymore. I started selling perfumes last year, along side the plain tshirts, before I diverted all my entire focus into my perfume business. While my plain t-shirt business lasted, I can comfortably say that it was a success and it helped me greatly during my university days. So far, my perfume business has been going great and I totally enjoy making people smell good.

Generally, business is not easy at all and it is not for the faint hearted. Some ideas will work out while will not, the most important thing is to keep moving and stay consistent.
