Gran Turismo 5 gameplay - March 23 2024

Playing some more of this classic racing game on an emulator. I have tuned the settings a little better and getting it all dialed in. Using a save game editor I add in the DLC cars, normally you would need to be connected to the playstation network to do this but on emulation I have to find other ways. Luckily I found a tool that lets me inject any car I want into the game. I added the DLC cars that were released back when this game was supported by the company. There are many touring cars added, so I found the one with the least horsepower and entered it into some races.

The Mazda Miata touring car is a beast, though not that fast top speed wise and its upper end acceleration is quite poor. But in the twisties nothing compares besides prototypes and LMP cars.

There are other non race car DLC vehicles to pick from, I plan on checking many of them out. But I was really curious about the Mazda Miata touring car so I decided to give it a try.

What I do is play the map, save the replay and then go back to the main menu and save the game. It does still crash and I would hate to lose progress because I watched a buggy replay. So it works well to save them and then save the game itself.

Starting near the back I work my way through the vehicles and come up on a Chevy Camaro. This thing has more top speed than me so I will need to keep an eye on it.

Catching up to it in the twisties I get right on its bumper and go for a pass.

Finally in front I watch out for it in the straight aways, it may catch up and even try to pass me.

Luckily I finish the race and get first.

Winning a prize car I will keep it for any special races I need to do.

Entering another race it goes pretty smooth.

I keep myself ahead in the straight aways.

And luckily there are enough turns to make distance.

I like this course, the tunnel is fun along with the woods on both sides.

Have to slow way down for this turn, many times I have just missed it.

For the final race I have three or so laps to do.

I see a stock Miata, and quickly work my way past it.

This track has some good uphill parts that makes it harder to drive this car well.

But this loop I can really go fast and seems the AI cars take it very slow.

Eventually I get first and the gold prize for the event. It is fun trying out new cars, and with the DLC releases there are many I did not check out last time I emulated this game. So looking forward to exploring those vehicles as this one has been a lot of fun already.
