Exploring Cebu’s Most Enchanting Flower Garden🌺🍄

Sometimes, the best trips are those that do not exactly go as planned. And that's how our Buwakan ni Alejandra visit turned out-a little rainy, super foggy, and unexpectedly magical. A couple of weeks ago, we decided to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and took a quick trip to Balamban. I have always heard great things about this place, so it was finally time to see it for myself.

    How to get there

Going to Buwakan ni Alejandra requires taking the Transcentral Highway, one of the famous routes if one is heading from Cebu City to Balamban. It is part of the adventure to have to drive because the road meanders through a beautiful mountainous view. We were able to reach the place for about an hour and a half, and to be honest, I didn't mind the ride at all. It was such a refreshing sight to see greenery all around and feel the cool breeze as we went up.

Your options if you're planning on going:
    1. Private Vehicle - This is what we used, and I'd say it's the easiest way to get there. Just follow the highway, and you'll eventually spot signs pointing to Buwakan ni Alejandra in Barangay Gaas.
    2. Public Transportation - If you will commute, you can ride a V-hire or a bus from the Ayala Cebu Terminal to the town of Balamban. Once you are there in Balamban, you just have to ride a habal-habal, and this will take you right to the garden. That is quite an adventure, yet very well worth it!

    A Garden in the Clouds

The first thing I noticed when I get there was how cool and fresh the air was; it felt so relaxing, breathing in something other than pollution. It was raining that time, and the place looked extra dreamy. The fog rolled in, covering the surrounding mountains and giving this magical, out-of-this-world vibe to the garden.

The entrance fee is very affordable and budget-friendly, so you need not have to worry. As soon as we stepped inside, the whole are surrounded by colors. Flowers of all kinds were arranged in such a beautiful way that it appeared as if I had entered into a fairytale.

The Experience: Rain, Fog, and All

A little rain wasn't going to get in the way of a nice day outdoors. The paths were a little slippery, so if you ever get to go during rainy season, wear comfortable, nonslip shoes. We had so much fun walking around in the drizzle and taking pictures everywhere. The flowers were all still in bloom, and the raindrops on the petals made them look even prettier.

There is something about being surrounded by nature that just clears one's mind. The sound of rain, flowers, cool foggy air, all so soothing. I found myself just standing there, soaking it all in, well, figuratively… maybe a bit literally because of the rain.

Of course, we couldn't leave without taking a ton of photos; for every nook and corner in this garden, picture-perfect would be the caption. Whether one is into photography or just needing a new profile picture, this place is a goldmine of great shots. Actually, the fog made our pictures look even more unique-it's not every day you get to experience that kind of weather in Cebu!

Why You Should Visit Buwakan ni Alejandra

Now, you may ask, what is so unique about this place? For me, it is not only about flowers, but also about the experience of driving here, fresh air, peaceful atmosphere, and a feeling that you are out of this world for some time.

Buwakan ni Alejandra is not a big garden, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in charm. The flowers are so well arranged, almost as if telling their own story. The colors pop-from vibrant reds and yellows to soft pinks and purples-especially against the misty background.

And let's not forget the view! The garden is surrounded by mountains, and if the day is clear, well, you get to see these breathtaking landscapes. It looked stunning even with the fog during our visit, in a different way. It felt like we were in the clouds.

    Tips for Future Visitors

If you're planning to make your own trip to Buwakan ni Alejandra, here's how you could make the most of it:

    • Wear Your Comfortable Clothes: Put on something in which you can move around freely. Comfortable shoes are a must, especially in rain.
    • Wear a jacket or bring an umbrella; it may get a bit chilly in Balamban, and one wouldn't want to get soaked in case of sudden rain.
    • Go Early: It's not that big, and the garden is nicer to explore with fewer people.
    • Bring Snacks and Water: There are a few small shops in the neighborhood, but it's always nice to have some personal supplies on hand.
    • Enjoy the Journey: Do not rush. Part of the experience involves the drive along the Transcentral Highway, so enjoy the view.
