Above image is a blending and editing of different pictures taken with a mobile phone at different times. I try to collect ordinary objects with the phone camera and make a kind of photo collage out of them. As you read further, you will notice which parts are composed from which pictures given below.

Dried leaf picture exhibited below is where the above photo blend originated from. While having a walk sometime ago, I found this leaf on the ground and wanted to bring it home. As you know, when dry they are very fragile, so I put it on top of a speedlight tripod beside the wall to keep it safe. It was a bit more bended and curled at different sections before I decided to soak in water while trying to make it flat. But every time it curled back. And one evening when the room lights were on, I just realized the shadow on the wall. It seemed like a kind of flying creature. Honestly first I thought about a flying Godzilla! I took picture of it, cleaned the tripod shadow and flipped vertically and saved in the gallery to be used in one of the future inspiration moments.

Later on I remembered the two pictures below sitting in my gallery. They are again from different scenes. The one on the left is from a gym wall. And the one on the right is from home taken behind the fly screen focusing on flower pots. At the time, frame with artificial plants caught my attention because of it's 3D form and simplicity. And the flower pots were under strong sun light but obstructed with fly screen. The textural look was to my pleasing. So flying creature over plants and some texture could blend in nicely. I felt a story is developing here and I carried on. One more image might finalize the collage.

And the final one below is a recent one. And it has totally different story. I have this mBot at home especially for my kids to have a sense of programming and electronics, how they merge together. It has several sensors on it, and one of them is a line following sensor. For a while I was thinking about generative coding or generative art. How to detach it from screen and lay it on a physical form, in the simplest manner. And this idea came to my mind, thinking that it could be simple, interesting and different for the boys as well. So I had the opportunity with my young one to make the coding and congratulating each other on every successful step... The logic was to spin around for a random time then go forward until the bot is at the paper boundary. Then go backwards and do it again. The outcome achieved by attaching a felt pen at the back and visualizing the motion.

Long story short, here is a GIF below summarizing the mBot setup. And on the top left corner, see the chief engineer? He is assessing the situation, I guess :)

Since the resulting picture was more geometric and edgy, I thought it may create a good contrast with the images I already brought together. Finally I blended all images together and did some edits. I used "Snapseed" app and the result is not bad I guess.

After all, I think this is a kind of generative process where the time of shooting, image selection, the steps of combining them, decisions and moods included, etc. are all organic and indeterminate. I am saying because I really don't know what triggered them. Plus computational randomness is included as a bonus :)

    All the best...
