Monomad : A Traditional and Healthily Delicious Bread

    Hello everyone!

    I’d like to share a special moment that always reminds me of the warmth of home and the sweetness of family memories. My older sister, who lives in Marrakech and is staying with me for a few days with her daughter and son, made this natural barley bread you see in the photos. It’s a traditional bread that is not only healthy but also absolutely delicious!

    This barley bread, known in Morocco as "KHOBZ CHIIR," is made with pure barley flour and fennel seeds. Barley is known for its numerous benefits, particularly its richness in fiber and minerals. It’s one of those simple yet powerful ingredients that we sometimes forget, but which works wonders for our health.

    What makes this bread even more special is that it’s entirely homemade. My sister uses traditional methods passed down from generation to generation, and I assure you, every bite is a nostalgic trip back to childhood.

    You can see a slice of the bread, revealing its fine yet slightly grainy texture. This dense crumb is perfect for accompanying simple dishes like grilled vegetables, fresh cheese, butter, or olive oil, and of course, to be enjoyed with a good mint tea.

    I feel really lucky to savor these little pleasures made with love and care, and I wanted to share this moment of sweetness with you. If you’ve never tried barley bread, I highly recommend giving it a go, either by making it yourself or finding a bakery that offers it.
