Thank God its #NinetiesFriday!
These days between Xmas and New Year the not-so-social media and the Boomer media bombard us with lists and throwbacks.
Some lists look back for years looking for the greatest songs of all time. Some look at the most impacting events in the last year.
It seems that people like that kind of stuff, or at least it gets views.
In four days, those Nineties will be a quarter-century-old or older of course for those mathematicians among us.
ItΒ΄s hard to imagine that 25 years ago I closed that era and entered the Β΄00s without ever looking back. That might be why I enjoy writing this series so much.
My Last 25 Years
I know I suck at keeping it short, but I will try to do so today.
If you gave me 25 words to tell you what happened to me these last 25 years.....
What would I say?
- Spain
- Pain
- Son
- Divorce
- Growth
- Loss
- Loneliness
- Blessing
- Finance
- Vision
- Understanding
- Listening
- Tranquility
- Forgiving
- Spirituality
- Music
- Book
- Writing
- Solitude
- Profoundness
- Waking Up
- Inner Peace
- Origin
- Remembrance
- Love
25 words capturing these last 25 years, telling a lot and saying nothing.
I think I mentioned it before in this series, when I left the Nineties I was a Lost Boy.
Life had just started, dreams were replaced by reality, I lost most of my future expectations as I landed a Hardknock Life,
Street Smart & Sassy, I ran into many walls but the angel on my shoulders protected me from serious downfalls.
And I fell I got up again.
I got knocked down, took a breath, and got back up.
Always looking ahead, hardly ever looking back.
That looking back is becoming more common now that I am on the threshold. The threshold where the is more to look back at, then there is to expect from the years ahead.
Of course, that is talking about quantity and not quality. Because if I take a long hard look at my life...
At these last 25 years...
The thing that is most profound, is that I had to go down hard against the canvas, to really get up.
But I got up, and these last years I worked my ass off in so many ways to increase the quality...
My Quality, and my lifeΒ΄s quality.
When I left the Nineties I did not think there would come a day that I would say what I am gonna say right now;
I am proud of what I have become over these last 25 years.
Okay, enough is enough. now that that is out in the open letΒ΄s move on:
Throw Back
Thanks @geneeverett for starting this nice niche I enjoyed it a lot this year.
I brought back so many memories I did not know I lost, so Γ±ets do a little end of year compilation.
It's a compilation of what I consider my greatest #NinetiesFriday snippets.
I loved the 90s Christmas Dinner last week.
π»πππππ π»π πΉπππππππ π»ππ 90π - Nineties Christmas (Not So) Special
But that still feels pretty fresh.
One of my personal favorites is this one:
π»πππππ π»π πΉπππππππ π»ππ 90π - The Β΄90s were the only interbellum we know!
When I figured that a big part of that good nineties vibe came from it being the only interbellum I will ever know.
Those years between the fall of The Wall & The Fall of the Twin Towers....thatΒ΄s Freedom.
I loved to see how everything around me changed, but how little I actually changed since those Golden days.
This one contains that clip from Trainspotting, and that movie always reminds me that my life could have taken a very different turn back in the Nineties.
And I loved how the artwork for these '90s posts kept turning out...eventually.
Still, after so many weeks my favorite remains this one:
I am data-driven, and so was this post.
I deep-dived into some numbers and proved that even though sustainability is the word, we were more sustainable in the Nineties.
But at the same time, I dug up another set of digits proving that global poverty diminished extremely.
Bikini Bottom Line
The Bikini Bottom Line speaks loud from these posts.
They truly were golden days, without mobile phones ad anti-social media.
They were less politically correct and you were allowed to use sex to sell.
Girls were girls.
Boys were boys.
Gays were Gay.
That was it, why has the world become so complicated?
Why can we not have another interbellum filled with hope instead of fear?
Anyway Happy New Year!

WTF do I do on #NinetiesFriday?
Well, don't do what I do because that would be copy/pasta!
But some ideas are music, movies, television, sports, or really anything Nineties related.
I assume movie, TV, or music topic reviews or talk will be most common, but you could also talk about a sports memory or something else.
Thank Goodness you made it till the end Pees, Love and I am out of here!
