The city of Subotica is located in the far north of Serbia, right on the border with Hungary. It belongs to the part of Serbia called Backa, and Backa is part of the largest plain of Vojvodina. The city abounds in beautiful squares, fountains, promenades, greenery, and the spirit of Subotica has been preserved from the 18th and 19th centuries, when Subotica was under Austro-Hungarian rule.
The spirit of that time has been preserved, as has the architecture that can be seen in the theater, museums, City Hall and other residential buildings.
In the vicinity of Subotica, there is another well-known attraction related to this city, which is the Palić lake and the zoo, which I will write about in the next post.
