“I wonder what it would be like to live in the woods. Wild and carefree. Not having to worry about rituals and magic.”

Laloc put his pipe to his lip. Tendrils of smoke dissipated in the crisp air.

“We have ritual and magic too,” he said, feeling a little bold. “We just don’t let it rule over our lives.”

“That explains a lot, actually,” she said, and gathering her dress, she left.

Laloc listened to the waves and looked at the moonlight shimmering on the sea.

The other day I was walking with my pet, Scruffy, a Pekingese who suddenly barked when he heard its name. Relax, it's okay," she petted the little canine who kept shaking. Suddenly, she continued with her story, a user appeared out of nowhere in a speeding car and ran over me with Scruffy and everything. I was chopped in half, and poor Scruffy was left stamped on the wall. It took more than 500 megabytes of RAM to rebuild us.

A wide, black curtain seemed to fall in front of them, revealing a landscape even more beautiful and striking than the first. They arrived at the place that seemed to be waiting for the older man and the young girl, as Steve finally understood what kind of experience he had been through. The older man said goodbye gracefully, and immediately began to run forward, while the young woman happily and excitedly kept looking around the imposing place. They both left without mentioning anything to Steve about the cost of the trip, because they themselves knew that it was the cab driver who owed them.

    Reign; Happy Birthday

    image.png

That evening after resting, Reign walked to her old dusty easel where her canvas of memories lay empty. She wiped off the dust and ran her eyes over it. Reign felt a longing and calling. She hadn't painted in that room since she was sixteen.

She gathered her tools and began splattering on the canvas. After all, it was the Eve of her 24th birthday that would never come. She was going to perform Elsazar’s ritual one more time. With her heart leading the brush, Reign painted a picture that stunned her. It was the splendid image of a place she often called freedom. This time, it was more compelling.

On a fateful night, sometimes about 2 a.m., the hospital was quiet except for the labor room and perhaps the emergency section of the hospital. We had a difficult delivery where the newborn came out blue. Like I said from the beginning, the equipment is scarcely available, even in the face of limited personnel. My team consisted mainly of nurses and hospital attendants. We quickly applied the basic life supports you can see in a typical African hospital, which ranged from suction of the baby's nostrils and mouths to spanking of the buttocks to initiate the first cry. When the results expected were not forthcoming, I rushed the baby myself to the special care baby unit (SCBU).

    A Tale: Madam Koi Koi

    “I don’t know. Ah…Jesus please…”

My mind went to all the times I ran out of my room because it was dark, or was scared to go to the bathroom because there was no light. I thought that was fear. But I was wrong. Fear was happening and it was a person.

We all waited with baited breath. Seconds turned to minutes. Hannah finally managed to hold my hand, her warmth permeating my senses. It almost felt like the last beacon of hope before death. I just cannot explain it.

    Daily conversations

I will celebrate your success and achievements, Fernando. I always will. If your mother were alive, she would have celebrated too. The three of us would have celebrated this moment. -I tried to leave, but my father's enthusiastic tone disappeared and I preferred to stay. He continued:

─Fernando, do you remember your mother's laughter? -my father asked me and as always I didn't say a word, but this time I raised my head and looked at my father's eyes: they looked like a well full of water about to overflow.
