While this music is still waiting for me to go back and practice it a hundred times more, I am taking a little break. checking hive...planning to go to the market to buy fruits... cleaning... - doing anything just to escape from suffering. 😁 Yeah, I know, it can be called work postponement or procrastination, and it is not a good thing. I shouldn't allow myself that luxury or procrastination because there's really no time for that. You know when a little devil is whispering into your ears that everything is easier and more tempting than playing the same part so many times without the feeling that it improves.
That is how studying sometimes goes. My son sent me the other day (late evening actually) a photo from a practice room where he studied. The smiley he added to the photo was not the happiest; he was already tired, but I consoled him in the best possible way 😂 - that I was suffering too and sent him a video of how bad my playing went. When I later watched the video, I realized this would need much more time to go smoothly and with confidence. It is already a bit better today (is it again the little devil speaking that I can relax and study less?).
There is an interesting thing about learning new music. I may have tried to describe it in the past, but I always have the same or similar feeling. So it is like meeting a person for the first time; you start interacting and then you get to know them a little better, and you see more details, qualities and parts that you connect with very quickly, but also features that are uncharted territory for you. It takes effort to get to know it well, but overall, it is an enjoyable experience. It is exciting to come across all the discoveries and feel the process of adaptation.
Now, this phase of mastering a subject that I am more or less familiar with is a tricky thing. I used to process the stages faster, and I am not sure why, but now I struggle with remembering. My hands don't get the commands from my mind at the right time, and then I make mistakes and start playing nonsense. When I play a song a few times in a row, it gets better so I manage to play it with confidence, then I come back a few hours later or the next day and some parts are like I have never seen or played them before. Then I get up and do other things hahaha.
One of those other things was to take these children's drawings (of some comics) out of the frames and use the frames for other paintings or photographs that I would like to hang on the walls. I used pliers to remove small nails from the other side, washed the glass and imagined what I could use them for. I also got a wooden thorn in my fingertip while doing this DIY activity... 🤦♀
Yesterday at a fair, I saw interesting wall decorations and the one I liked the most was a board with piano keys "drawn" on it with a leather thread. I suppose this is not unique; it is certainly industrially made, but it doesn't matter, I liked it so much that I bought it and brought it home. I was trying out the frames that I already prepared, however, they didn't match the size of my new piano keys, so I found another picture we had, took it out, washed the glass and framed my new wall decoration.
I also hung it on a wall in my piano room. It feels a bit tiny on that wall but it had to go there because there was a nail hole already from a previously hung picture. I tried to set this corner of the room more or less in similar tones. Black, as the piano is black, and the frames of the flower photos are black, as well as the sculpture that is listening to my studying. White as the keys are white and the wall & curtains too, plus the crystal mini piano. The standing lamp is also white, plus the lamps on the ceiling are of the same style. This is about this corner as the opposite wall hosts shelves with music scores and books, glass shelves with small decorative items, and a coat hanger. There is a big closet in the wall that is on the right of the piano, it simply has to be there as I didn't find a better place for it at the moment.
You see, I will even describe how this room is just to skip practising lol. But It is fine as I will be back there in no time and continue taming my mind and fingers as it is that - brain cells training.
