Hello and happy weekend, I'm @fab-tay and i welcome everyone to weekend-engagement 192 on this @weekendexperiences community on this hive platform. In this week engagement, i will be sharing on the menace of drug/substance abuse which is a current popular societal trend based on my professional experience and the possible wayout while expressing displeasure at it. It promises to be a worthwhile read. 
A society comprises of set of individuals living together and having mutual/set values. Every society is built from families as a unit with gender/races/ethnicity/religion notwitstanding. One of the current/popular societal anomaly which is worrisome is the issue of drug/substance abuse. Drug abuse comes inform of self-medication, incomplete medication, wrong drug handling/storage, drug mis-use and so on. All of these arises from not properly consulting the appropriate healthcare facility for one's health needs because i believe if this is done, the right/necessary information about the drug to be taken would have been made available by the Pharmacist after proper medical consultation by the Physician. On consistent basis, i see varying cases of drug abuse i mentioned above by the virtue of my work and has done intervention for many cases aswell. 
Substance abuse on the other hand is even worse as day in - day out the issue of young adults and adolescents engaging in illicit drugs is rampant and on the high side. Substance abuse involves engaging in illicit drugs or psychotropic drugs like heroine, marijuana, cocaine etc as against government regulations or laws of the nation as regards this. Most of the major societal vices like robbery, kidnapping, rape etc can easily be traced to substance abuse. Infact, young children are been introduced to it at tender age and some of the correctional facilities, juvenile homes, psychiatric hospital/rehabilitation centres are packed full of young, productive age groups and this is a major societal/national anomaly. All these arises from failed marriages/home, wrong public perceptions, bad governance, inefficient efforcement, moral decadence, compromises from authority etc. The way forward is for a sound orientation/public enlightenment, enforcement, good governance, reduced compromise etc. 
As i always say to people: "Drugs/substances are not food and hence, must be handled cautiously" and if drug and drug issues are left to charlatans or taken with levity, the looming danger can be so disastrous. I have been privileged to visit psychiatric wards, interact with colleagues working in special facilities, attend meetings/conferences of professionals and so on which beyond reasonable doubt show the urgent need to tackle the issue of drug/substance abuse as cases of antibiotic resistance is on the rise and same with mental disabilities and ill-behaviours. 
We as professionals also need to play our part by creating awareness/enlightenment and also respect/honour ethics guiding our work. Our government needs to work on proper enforcement of laid down rules and build more accessible healthcare facilities, well equipped and stocked with licensed/registered professionals handling such facilities which all at the long run imparts positively on the society/nation. Individuals, families, society and nation at all should have a renewed attitude and mindset to drug/substance abuse. Thank you for reading and i wish you all a restful and exciting weekend ahead.
