volunteering at the meditation center
Dear friends,
Yesterday morning, I went to I went to the meditation centre to volunteer there as a photographer. The schedule started at 7 in the morning with the registration process.It was a one day Anapana meditation course taught by U Goenka in the tradition of Sayagyi U Ba Khin.Many children came to participate accompanied by their parents and guardians. There were over one hundred students age ranging from 8 to 12. And the no of teachers is over twenty and there were also around twenty volunteers I think.
There were video discourses followed by counselling sessions conducted in smaller groups and there were break times between them.The courses have been specifically designed for children. Some novices also participated from a monastery.
The above were some of the photos taken by me at Dhamma Mahā Pabbata meditation centre, Taunggyi, Myanmar.
During the meditation, the children learnt Anapana meditation along with the five precepts.There were not only meditation but also fun activities for children like listening to stories, playing times, snack times, etc.. "Anapana is the first step in the practice of Vipassana meditation. It is the observation of natural, normal respiration, as it comes in and as it goes out."(Northern California Vipassana Center – Dhamma Maṇḍa)
And my Actifit count for yesterday was found to be over 1000.
