Last Day Of Ramadan & EID

Eid is an Islamic festival that is a gift from Allah after the patience shown during the 30 days of fasting in the holy month of Ramadan. Muslims all around the world celebrate it by wearing their best clothes, cooking delicious food (most importantly sweet dishes) and getting ready and giving gifts to each other. Since the Islamic months are calculated by the lunar calendar, it is not confirmed whether eid will be after 29 days or 30 days so this year the month of Ramadan consisted of 29 days and eid was on the 10th of april 2024 in Pakistan. The preparation of eid is the more exciting part, even more than eid itself, as the markets are filled with people shopping for their eid outifts or preparing eidi (eid gift) for a loved one. Girls specially put in a lot of efforts to look the prettiest and all the bangle shops are so full on the night before eid day, also called chaand raat (literal meaning: night of the moon) that even stepping in the markets will be hard. Eidi is an important part of our culture. Even my fiancé spent approximately 2 hours in the market to choose bangles for me and finally he ended up choosing these.
Another crucial part of girl’s eid preparations is their henna. From choosing the best designs of henna to the complete application process and then flaunting their beautiful hands, Muslim girls get really competent.
My chaand rat was very beautifully spent with my friends where we went shopping and I bought gifts for my in-laws.
Then we applied henna. Unfortunately, I did not get a picture of both my hands so it feels like a waste.

I came back home and had the last iftar of this year’s Ramadan with my father as we prayed all together counting all the blessing of Allah. It was an emotional moment as we have to wait a whole year for this holy month to come again and we do not even know about our very next breath so it was important to cherish the last minutes.
After that, we waited for the announcement of whether it will be eid tomorrow or not. While we were waiting my doorbell rang and I checked my CCTV cameras outside the gate to see my friend was there. I opened the door and ran towards her hugging her and by this time the announcement started saying that it was officially going to be eid tomorrow and my friend handed me a very beautiful gift hamper.

Then another one of my friends surprised me by bringing another gift hamper.

All 3 of us sat together and we devoured a pizza for dinner and talked until it was around 9:30 at night. It was so much fun and to think that I have such precious people that I can share my happiness with is an overwhelming thought also knowing that these people are not here for only the good days but will stay by my side during the hard times as well.
Here are some more Eid gifts I got, just to make you jealous!

I spent so much of my Eidi already as I also had to buy gifts for my friends and family and this is the only part left of it.

Eid is all about bringing people together even those who have some kind of grudges forgive each other and start fresh so Eid is a beautiful festival and Eid in Pakistan is a whole another level of vibes and the aesthetics will remain unmatched forever.
