Splinterlands - Wild Pass is still a good deal with a competitive deck

Splinterlands, Splinterlands, Splinterlands... I feel that it becomes a relation of both love and hate like a rollercoaster. I was a vivid supporter of Splinterlands for so many years, but once with the decisions of shrinking the marketplace by making reward cards soulbound and adding in game currency like Glint, I felt that the free market and free will was taken from me. And for few months I have taken a break from the game while still keeping an eye on it. The value of the assets of the game continued to decrease and I simply wouldn't see a way of it coming back from this. But who knows, maybe things will turn around and there is still hope for the game. So with that in mind and hearth I have decided to give it another chance and started playing again.

I am an OG in the Splinterlands and I can say that I have some good decks with early decks. This unfortunately doesn't let me play for free in the Modern format, so it was quite a barrier for me. With the last year evolution of the game I wouldn't see a way of things getting better, so I've decided not to invest a penny in the game out of what I would obtain from the game itself. I've tried playing in the Modern format with some decks, but I got tired of loosing battle after battle. So I did some math and evaluated if it was worth it to get back in the Wild League, but paying 2,000 DEC for each season.

With my current Decks and with a Wild Pass cost of 2k DEC, I've calculated that it would take me half of the season to get back SPS wort 2k DEC, thus the other half would be just my free earnings. It is not bad, but neither good as I still fill that 50% requiring to play in order to achieve the cost of the Wild Pass is quite harsh. I would have been more comfortable with a 1k DEC which would have gotten that to around 25% given to the house. But it is what it is and there is still something left on the table for me to take. And the truth is that I will not take anything out, but simply stake it to earn more and with the hope that SPS value and price will improve in time.

Beside the earned SPS, I am earning Glint for each battle and also I am getting Glint at Season End. With this I can buy Soulbound cards and get my deck stronger. The Soulbound cards are not providing any revenue as I have attempted to Unbind one and Sell it on the market and I came out of this at a loss. Thus, only you can make your fight formation stronger out of this.

Overall I believe that purchasing the Wild Pass for 2k DEC coupled with a competitive deck, it can earn you some decent SPS rewards. I will not do any specific math about this as I don't want to be discouraged by the results at the current market price, but maybe there is hope for the future. Thus I will continue to play Splinterlands in the Wild format for the forthcoming future and I believe it still is a good deal on this.
