Grosvenor Trail rebirth after fire : January 22 2025

Weird weather day. Forecast is for 35C and a storm later. Started out cloud with temperature edging over 22C. Checked the forecast and looked out the window. Got out early - took the umbrella as it started to rain - and the car. Could not remember where my boots were - chose a track not likely to have leeches

It is the season of the scribbly gum lost its bark

NSW coral heath flower- white form

Surprised to find patersonia iris still flowering - did see a few

Next test - petals seem long and more pointy

Conesticks flower - still a few going

Mushrooms emerging - a bit of rain and up they come

Peach-flowered tea tree

More scribbly gum delight

Spider time - orb weaver spider

Walk back along the section reduced by hazard reduction burn this season - see the new growth at ground level

A little closer. Next photo shows the extremes

Track is on the right - green. Burned bit is on the left = burned brown. What I do know about trees is the dead part will die back and the risk is to the whole tree. For now native says - live on

Walk done - had hoped to find midge orchids. They were here this time last year - not today. Only got a few seeded orchids but there was plenty to enjoy

Did get a lot of steps in doing that. Walked also to shops to get a few things - that got steps over 10k

As for forecast - the cloud did go away and it did get to 35C - sure pleased I walked early

Dinner: a cheesy version of pasta Alfredo - yum
