The splinterlands challenges are a way t earn some crypto and invest back in either cards or dec to get ready for the next edition which is being planned to be released in 6 months time as announced by splinterlands team in last townhall.
The challenge related to community engagement for this week is all about the tournaments we have in splinterlands.
If we navigate under play option, we will see the tournaments as a option.
Click on that to get into the tournaments page as displayed in below picture and it should have all the details of the ongoing tournaments by splinterlands.
Tournaments are mostly conducted by splinterlands and i have seen tournaments which conducted by individuals with different prizes announced.
The tournaments page has all the details about a tournament such as when the tournament will start, what is the name of the tournament or event (under event option), what are the rules that particular tournament has (such as bronze league, gold cards only, all cards are allowed etc.) under rules section, what are the prizes for the tournament ($88 USD, $244 USD etc) although the amount displayed is for the whole tournament and what is the entry fee (like 100 DEC, 1600 DEC etc.) as we can see from the picture.
The details of individual prizes and details of other things for a particular tournament can be seen from view option available after entry section and the details under view tab will be as below.
So, if we open a individual tournament, we can see the details for that tournament such as what type of event it is, how many members have already subscribed and what is the maximum limit for tournament members, what is the requirement of stake sps we need to have and also the power ( i am not clear what this is) and what types of cards are playable in the tournament.
We can also see the amount of dec to be paid and on the right side, we see the prizes or rewards.
So, top 128 finishers will win some sps as shown in the screenshot and top 4 finishers will get 403.1 sps each and 5 to 8 finishers will get 268.8 sps and so on as in the picture.
These tournaments needs more strategy as top players will be part of these and competing with them will not be an easy task.
But, normally prizes will be there for top 64 players, or top 128 players (as in this tournament displayed) and each will win some assured sps or whatever the rewards are mentioned and it's always an additional option to win some extra rewards in splinterlands.
When i say extra, it is in addition to ranked battle rewards and build brawl rewards where we earn merits and sps.
The tournaments are normally played between players divided into groups and each player will play with all his group members and top 30%, top 40% players as mentioned in the tournament will advance to next round, where, players will again be grouped and top finishers will only be eligible to win the rewards.
If one has enough time to play ranked battles, guild brawls and tournaments, it will be definitely a nice earning opportunity on splinterlands and with price of dec and sps picking up along with bitcoin, these extra rewards might be more valuable in the longer run.
If you are a new player, do check the tournaments as there are different types of tournaments and there are tournaments which even allows new players with less sps staking and power requirements and so, there are tournaments for everyone.
